I ordered this scope because i needed to read more than 40 volts and the cheaper ones will not do that. I found that holding the f3 key will sort of auto adjust the scale. I get the wave to fit the screen to begin with, the wave is usually smaller on the screen at 49 volts using the 10x and 1x/3x buttons. Then i hold the f3 and it shows the wave form going off the screen. When i cycle through the scales this time, the wave form ends up fitting much better. I do have to cycle through the 10x and 1x/3x option to get a good fit. Only this time the wave form is scaled much better. I noticed that this works for reading smaller voltages . When reading the rca voltage that is under 2 volts. That method seems to make the wave form easier to read. My amp has a clip light and i cant see clipping on this o scope until the light is solid and is in hard clipping. The 1% clipping that my amp detects does not show up on this scope. I dont think you could see 1% on any scope. At least i know the flashing clip light is a "soft clip" and a solid light is well into clipping.

I bought the Mustool scope meter a while back. It would probably be similar to the 2.0 version. Not bad for 50 bucks on banggood. Perfectly fine for setting gains. Like most of these scope meters the battery doesn't last long, but for occasional use it isn't too bad.

@@ilfaraone91 That was Sam, his KZfaq channel is barevids. That method will work. It's basically a harmonic distortion detector. When the amp clips it will produce stray signal and all of its harmonic frequencies. The bass blocker on small speaker keeps it from blowing from playing bass. I could probably build one from spare parts I have lying around, just would need a capacitor of the right value.

For the oscilloscope vertical sensitivity, you can also use the X1/X3 choice to get a three times change for sensitivity no matter which of the X10 settings you are on. This gives you more choices to have the waveform more fully fill the screen. The X1/X3 button toggles back and forth between the two choices and the volts per division indication changes accordingly. Most scopes have a "1, 2, 5" sequence for this. This has a "1, 3".

I'm still a little bit perplexed by it. As you saw in the video right before the wave went square it started to get fuzzy at the tops and bottoms of the wave. I'm not 100% certain how flat the top needs to be before I can call it clipping. At this point the only thing that the scope has going for it is that it is a lot cheaper than a DD1.

@@DIYAudioGuy I need to pick up this device soon so I can check my iNuke3000DSP and see how clean it is. I just did some measurements using my microphone and found the distortion is pretty tame to 25v on a single channel. Any harmonic distortion is over 30dB lower than the sine wave. This matches up with attaching a capacitor to a speaker and listening for distortion so I'm pretty happy these match up quite closely. Increasing the volume by 1dB to 28v harmonic distortion (2nd and 3rd) is now within 30dB of the fundamental tone. Increasing the volume by 1dB again to 30v 2nd and 3rd order harmonic distortion is now 24dB and 27dB from the fundamental tone. And one last time pushing it up to 32.5v (+1dB) 2nd order harmonic distortion is within 18dB of the fundamental tone. And pretty noticeable at this point. I stopped here because the Subwoofer was making unhappy noises because the amp was out of gas. This was done on my Ultimax 18 and was well under 1/4th the subs rated power so this should be all Amplifier distortion. Curious what the scope would show at those voltages and wonder where clipping actually is.

Thanks for the review! I picked one up after watching your review. I was just wondering if you can help me with a few things as I haven't used a multi meter in a long time. Measuring DCV on a router, and you want to set the limit of voltage is it possible to limit it to max voltage at 10 Volts? The only way I can explain it is with an analog meter (This model: de-960tr). I just need it to be more precise. I couldn't find any settings to manually change it. I don't know if it set in 'Auto' will perform in that way or not. Last question is, I had both leads setup on the 2 far right ports from a different review I seen. I'm really confused at which ports I use for things that are low voltage / low amps. Can you recommend the correct way to have those setup? Either that, or if you know of a guide / tutorial that can teach me about it. Much appreciated.

These days you need an o scope to set your Gains. Even top quality company’s will have over rated output claims. You can set your gains by voltage but only if you really trust that specific manufacturers ratings. @DIYAudioGuy

It all depends on how much airspace you have underneath the seat. It takes space to make bass. If you can get half a cubic foot per side that would work really well with a small driver. I would not try to cram anything bigger than a single eight under a seat. I think the woofer that I used in this video here along with the passive radiator might give You the results you're looking for. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rs-gaN2G1MDXgY0.html They also sell 5 and 1/4-in version that might work even better.
