It's one of the few cities with a history behind it too. To make the best cities, you always have to build with a story in mind to figure out how the city is laid out, because it establishes the idea of why it is laid out that way.

Hello guys, this is a trailer of my current project in the game Cities: Skylines, where I am currently building a futuristic 2030 version of the Indian city of Mumbai. I have been inspired by a lot of other Cities: Skylines builders on KZfaq and was amazed by their beautiful works. But I was disappointed to see that there were no Indian C:S builders on KZfaq. Same, algorithm brought NeoHK to my feed. I'm from HK so I can tell NeoHK is so realistic. And the original futuristic content fit in so well. The cinematic in this video didn't do it justice

These are all stunning and gorgeous, but I have to echo the comments about Mars and Columbia City. Also ... Not everyone has a rig that can support the level of detail (not realism) these cities incorporate. Would love to see a more balanced list (or a separate list) that includes top vanilla and/or less modded/asset/prop-laden creations. City Planner Plays' Verde Beach and Biffa's Teaport spring to mind.

On the one hand this list is some truly awesome cities - every one of them a work of art. On the other, it gives me a massive inferiority complex about Storm City, which is very weird and different (though not nearly so much as Mars!) and its level of artistry and detail. Plus, some truly staggering cities got left out, such as PalmTime's Maya, Citywokcitywall's Mars, and a few others. 10 is just not enough to encompass the top level of builders in this game... a lofty height I doubt I will ever see.

Just bought the game as it was only $5. It's my first time playing any type of city builder\simulator. It all honestly looks really intimidating but but seeing stuff like in this video makes me want to give it my all and make a decent city. Wish me luck folks.

Nah, you're probably right where the 99.9% of us are...a basic, good enough city planner. My gripe with this list is it focuses on totally over modded users and their fantastically UNREALISTIC cities. What a great way to market the hell out of a 6-year-old game. Imagine how many newbs think they're getting all these assets and mods packed into the game download alongside the hefty dose of divine creativity it takes to come up with these awe-inspiring skylines🤓🤦🏾‍♂️.

@@wyzemann I suppose some console players might come across these videos and feel disappointed. As you say, the game (and game engine) is old, and certainly isn't optimised to take advantage of newer hardware. Even on the highest spec PC, many of these "show" cities are effectively unplayable - they run nowhere near as fast as it appears on the videos. One area I would take issue with, is the "unrealistic" cities jibe. Judicious use of mods and assets makes it easier to create a realistic city, or a futuristic dystopia - the choice is the creators. My PC is reasonable, so I can use quite a few mods/assets, but I wouldn't want to try and match these creators. It is good for inspiration though. The other thing to remember, is that these mods and assets were created by the community, for the community - there was a bit of a nudge from the game programmers when it came to procedural objects.

Some decent builds in there but feel ya messed up big time excluding the two best ones out there.. Can you give a reason Mars wasn’t included at least? Seems most of the comments can’t understand why

All of these builds are amazing, but I must say that that Neo Hongkong takes the win in my book, especially after checking out the channel of BlackFox which was a new creator to me. Would have maybe expected to have seen Maya by Palm'sTime here as well. Even if it was started in the middle if 2019, about 2/3 of the builds/episodes are from 2020.
