We have been traveling Vietnam from South to North and one of the cities we were looking forward to the most was Hanoi. The one thing we wanted to experience in Hanoi was train street, where you can sit in a coffee shop right next to the side of the train tracks and have the train come inches away from you as it travels past.
However, this train street is kind of a hidden secret due to it's location. Many tourists go to the wrong place because the location of this place on google is not the correct one. Therefore, our mission was to try an find the real train street.
We also went out to explore Hanoi and try the Obama Bun Cha. This is a dish made famous when President Obama went to Hanoi and ate a Bun Cha at a locals restaurant. Although we have tried a Bun Cha before, we wanted to see if the Obama Bun Cha was better than the others that we have tasted. We also gave coconut coffee a try at the famous Note Cafe.

The pedicab you were riding on is called cyclo in Vietnam. I was watching Shev and Dev and saw that you joined them for the Ha Giang Loop. You should go in the evening, then you can go in any direction, the evening will be more beautiful

You do not need a tricycle ride. Just walk across the street from the popular area. Train track is not gated by security and its free. Or enter a bar or cafe and buy a drink along phung hung

I think the IG part of Train Street is busier and cuter, but you need a shop owner to invite you to their cafe to get on the tracks there. As far as bun cha, the one you went to is the most famous, but not necessarily the best. You should have ordered the fried crab spring roll that goes with bun cha and dip it into the broth/sauce. Hanoi seems really touristy, no?

Crossing the road is easy, once you get used to it. You just start walking ..... important thing is to keep a steady pace, don't stop in the middle, don't speed up or start running. The motorbikes will part around you - like the parting of the Red Sea. They don't want to hit you any more than you want to be hit. So they'll steer around you. You can actually do it with your eyes closed. BUT .... don't try that in front of buses and trucks!

About the real train street - I'm not sure exactly when you were there, but my understanding is that the police closures come & go. I remember that first happening when I lived there in 2021, and since then the closure get cancelled, then start again. No rhyme or reason.

I enjoy your videos from South Africa as I'm travelling there later this year but it was great to watch a video from one of my favourite places. I stayed around the corner from where you were sat for the train just before Covid turned up. Enjoy Vietnam, it's a fabulous country.

If you're unfamiliar with the cuisine, make sure to sign up for a food tour or two. The food tour guides are very informative about all things Hanoi/Vietnam, not just about the food. Do it the moment you get off the plane so you'll have a better sense of the food and how to eat it for the rest of your trip.

In March temp is about 20-25 degree but high humidity, so it is cool From late April to August it is very hot in northern In the south, it is hot all year but the humidity is not high so it is more pleasure

You should've tried the spring roll at Bun Cha because they made crab springroll, different from the ones you had other places. The French didn't build the train tracks like that, it was the Vietnamese that built their houses illegally around the train tracks because housing were scarce after the war....like Hanoi Old Quarters, houses were narrow but not in the state we see now, basically they split the original houses to halves or 5-10 times more to accommodate the soldiers and their families from the country side moved to Hanoi after the war.

You can still get on the original Train Street, but you have to be invited by the cafe owner. If you wait around that area long enough, they will come and invite you as long as you purchase a drink. Check the train schedule as I think many of the train times are in the evening.

Because we order food from a lot of different places through the day. So if we ordered 2 of everything from each place then we just wouldn't be able to finish everything and we just hate wasting. Nothing to do with the price of things.

Because of many accidents the police Ban it which makes sense!! Omg why don’t you go to Long Biên train Bridge. It’s much a better and safer experience!! Bun Cha Obama is average Khong Ngon tasting!! And it’s far from the best I can assure you guys as a local living here in Hanoi.. It’s only recognised because as you said USA ex president go there with Anthony.. but for clicks to the channel you can be same same but different bro lol 😂😂 Xin Moi = Enjoy I also believe and again my opinion, that Getting out of the central Tourist strip that most of you floggers film on is much more appreciative and a much nicer cultural experience..
