Orach mountain spinach create huuuuuge ropes is seeds in a dusky pink/ purple/ green ! For ex large five gallon bucket sized arrangement. With other big flowers like sunflowers and hollyhocks. Also I pop in blackberry vines. Good for picnics barbecues and outdoor/ country weddings. Dressed up with roses and dahlias would be magnificent. They reseed themselves. And the leaves can be eaten.

I've been growing produce for the last 12 years and I'm starting my first small patch of cut flowers this year. Lots of Zinnias and other easy flowers to grow. I'm excited to embark on this new adventure and see how it goes.

Kia ora from New Zealand. Thanks for such an informative video. I am planting my 100 yo cottage garden with cut flowers in mind. Just for my own pleasure - but you gave me some interesting food for thought. It would be nice if I could sell a few bouquets. I've direct sown many different seeds this autumn and most have germinated. But straw flower and celosia I have added to my list. I have subscribed and look forward to more videos. :)

Great list :) I just learned recently that Celosia is pronounced chay-LAW-see-ah. I've struggled to source seed here in New Zealand, but so looking forward to growing lots of varieties! My favourite not on the list is Amaranthus. So easy to grow, versatile, great colours, and a long season.

It’s so interesting how for the same word, there are many different ways of saying it depending on country/regional/local differences. For example, here in NA, our dictionary has pronunciation as sē-ˈlō-zh(ē-)ə, which sounds phonetically like see-low-gia.
@jaimemorgan5323
@jaimemorgan5323 3 жыл бұрын
@@Kylie4Queen I noticed the same with the Peony! The Celosia pronunciation was from an operatic singer who explained the correct pronunciation of the Latin sounds.

We are in zone 7B here in North Mississippi. Zinnia are my top choice too, sunflowers and cosmos perform well too along with marigold. I’m debating about adding celosia, we may try them next year. We just grow for the pollinators and ourselves, I do share zinnia seed with friends and family that I collect. Enjoy your videos!

would love to know more about your business - how many market bouquets you do in a week compared to like how many weddings you do in a season, CSA etc
@PepperHarrow
@PepperHarrow 3 жыл бұрын
2020 was a way different year than normal! We typically produce about 500 market bouquets but was significantly less in 2020. Last year was also the 1st year we did a CSA and we loved it. Pick up was on the farm and it gave people an opportunity to get out of the house and go some place they knew was safe. Jenn usually takes only one wedding per month. Beyond that is a little too much.

Great list! I was wondering if you could do a video on pest management on a flower farm. I have 118 varieties of Dahlias this year (my 6th or 7th year growing them), and Cucumber Beetles are always my worst problem with growing flowers. I prefer Organic methods of control, but I have yet to find something that really works! THANKS so much for the great content...just found your channel, and it is very helpful!

Hi, I was somewhat surprised to see Lisianthus make the list only bc it’s a challenge to grow. I love it too, and I’m attempting it again from seed. Last yr I didn’t know I needed to start it so early. So this time I started them early dec and they are doing fine, however it’s been just over a month and they are still SO tiny! Is this normal? Maybe you could do a video on growing Lisianthus? Thanks- love the content of your videos! Lauren

I just moved to Iowa city from Philly. How do the David Austin roses do in Iowa? They should be hardy here(up to z 5 for some) but I don't really see people with roses out here besides the knock out variety (I'm not a fan). Are the winters here just too harsh for them? I was going to bring mine(7 plants) with me on the move but gave them away to a local garden club. I did bring a couple of my winter berries with me so I can start a hedge.

@@PepperHarrow I'll look into it next year. Not a florist or farmer but a lover of all pollinators. Love seeing them spend hours gathering pollen and nectar. Also is it me or have the numbers of pollinators been down this year? I also felt bad for a couple of the monarchs that I hit with my U-Haul while driving. I prayed to God for forgiveness Everytime I hit one. I counted 5.
