If you're watching from Canada or US, check your local codes - as this design is probably not code compliant. The height looks too low, and that base attachment does not look like it would meet the 500lb horizontal load resistance requirement used in many places.

Judging from how far the apparent drop to the plaza below is, and how low the railing is. I would have to call this dangerous design and poor workmanship a death trap. This railing could not be more than 26 or 27 inches high. The perfect trip height to send someone into a nose dive towards the pavement below.

Nice work indeed. However, it's kind of sad watching videos like this one - unless you have access to a fully equipped wokshop with zillions of woodworking machines. I think most of us only have a few handsaws, a hammer, an power screwdriver and maybe an electric grinder we can use; thus I'd really appreciate DIY videos about things you can do with just those basic tools.

The sadness comes from knowing how brutally dangerous this railing really is. Worst railing I have ever witnessed. Someone will die as a result of this poorly built safety structure.

@@williardbillmore5713 I have the same thought as you do. I would'nt trust my young grandkids to stay in that area. If your building a fence or railings, it's important to secure rigidly all the posts first.

@@joerex2612 The primary reason for any deck railing is safety...To keep anyone from falling off the deck and injuring or killing themselves. the secondary reason for a deck railing is cosmetics to give the deck a completed and finished LOOK. All too often the former is overlooked in favor of the latter, as is the case with this deck. Novices will compliment the builder for a "job well done", because it may look nice, without realizing that he has built what is essentially a death trap for unsuspecting users. People, especially children, will trustingly lean on a railing like this expecting it to support them as they look over the edge and this construction, attached as it is, will not do that. This deck is actually less safe with this railing than it would be with nothing there at all.

This safety guard railing is incredibly dangerous and does not come close to meeting International Residential Building Code anywhere in the world. Left in place it will most likely kill somebody.

The height of this safety railing looks to be no more than two feet...Well below the required 4 feet for a deck of this height above the street below. An adult of average height will easily fall OVER the top rail, probably to their death, even if the structure doesn't break away, which it looks like it likely will. This is the most dangerous deck railing I have ever seen. This deck is many times MORE DANGEROUS with this railing than it was with nothing at all. With no railing the dangers were obvious without the FALSE sense of security the railing's presence now implies. In my opinion this video is classed as CRIMINAL CARPENTRY.

This is what you get when furniture makers think they know how to build safety structures . This balcony would be safer if nothing was built on it at all. This shabby railing gives a false sense of security to anyone using it.... It is way too low and poorly constructed with inadequate materials It will assuredly kill someone if left in place.
