Do not buy any digital piano that's semi weighted keys if you are seriously about learning piano. You need a digital piano that's fully weighted to get that same feel to built finger strength. But even with fully weighted digital piano...it's still not 100% the same feel as an acoustic piano. So I would suggest to buy a fully weighted digital piano if you don't have space in your house to accommodate an acoustic piano, and also the digital piano allows you to use a headphone so other people can not hear the sound of the piano, so that you can practice anytime of the day without bothering other people. Then after you get better...go buy an acoustic piano. GRADED WEIGHTING Graded weighting is a standard feature on acoustic pianos and some higher-end digital and stage pianos. On acoustic pianos you’ll find that there is more resistance when you play keys in the lower range and less as you make your way up to the upper ranges. Digital keyboards and digital pianos will require a heavier touch on the low-end notes and a lighter touch as you get higher. These keys are usually individually weighted for added playability and a feel that emulates an acoustic piano. In many cases digital pianos with graded weighting will have keys made from wood rather than plastic. However, some options feature keys that emulate the feel and weight of ivory. SHOULD I BUY A WEIGHTED KEYBOARD? Before you pull the trigger and purchase a weighted keyboard, you need to decide whether you need to stretch your budget to accommodate the extra cost. You also need to consider your goals and needs as a musician. If you just want something to record with or play live with, and you don’t need the response and feel of an acoustic piano, then you likely don’t need weighted keys. If you are travelling with your piano frequently, it’s probably a better idea to get a keyboard with either non-weighted keys or semi weighted as these are a lot lighter to carry. If you are learning to play piano and you are committed to it, you need a piano for around the home or you are going to study music, we’d definitely recommend using a weighted keyboard. As weighted keyboards encourage finger strength, this works in the same as training in the gym. The more you lift the heavier weight, the easier it is lift lighter weights. With that said, if you only play non-weighted keys, your finger dexterity and strength will only be relevant to non-weighted keys and you might find it jarring to play a weighted keyboard. Something worth thinking about when it comes to purchasing your keyboard as unweighted keys won’t help you build the strength to play a concert grand piano

By the way the P71 is exactly the same digital piano as the P45. Yamaha said so on their website. The P45 is for Yamaha retailers, and the P71 is exclusive to amazon. Hope that helped anyone out

I agree with the list apart from id switch the donner and the alesis pro as the alesis has faulty action. The black keys are something like 10-15 grams lighter then the white keys which even me (a bigger) noticed when practicing with one

One of the biggest problem with all digital keyboards is the issue of parts. Many companies, even with known name brands, will hire a Chinese flash company which starts up for that run only. They then shutdown and no more parts are available.

Yamaha es muy mala opción. Tengo el Yamaha p45 que es idéntico al P71 y el teclado da problema a los pocos meses... demasiado blando y al poco tiene un gran desgaste de piezas tanto así que sus teclas emitirán un sonido muy molesto...y después tendrás que llevarlo a reparar.

No. RockJam 88 is not a great piano. It will damage the joints of adults or kid’s hand. The keys are heavy to play is not like piano you can fix from soft to hard. This is only very hard.
