We compare the Alpine iLX-W650, Sony XAV-AX1000, Kenwood DMX-47S and JVC KW-M56BT. In this video we compare these name brand radios and do a mini review on each of them. And in the end we crown was the best radio with the best features. ALPINE, Kenwood, Sony and JVC are some of the top brands in car stereo.

I installed the Alpine iLX-W650 in my 2008 C6 Corvette and it works Beautifully! I bought the adapters and kit to install. Virtually no cutting and it fits and sounds Perfect!

Thanks. I used this video to choose the Sony XAV-AX1000. Installed in '02 Honda CRV. Bought from Crutchfield and it came with the trim kit and wiring adapter. Fantastic radio. Thanks for this review.

Thanks. Just subbed. Loved the deluvery, the speed of delivery, the no BS, staight to the point..Only critisms are. 1. Peak values...thats just the manufacturers marketing, what are the RMS values. Also how many preouts do they each have ? 2. The pros and con bit at the end, you were giving pros and cons on the kenwood / jvc but the sony was in the frame. Unless that was intentional as some kind of subliminal :)

Hey, great video! I installed the Alpine iLX-W650 in my truck earlier this year and added all the modules and attachments (steering wheel controls, Onstar retention, parking brake bypass, siriusxm since I still had a subscription, front and rear cameras). I love it. I just haven't figured out how to get the automatic screen dimmer to work, and setting up the speaker output for Onstar was a little tricky. Apart from that, it's fantastic. Definitely recommend it. I think I'll put one in my wife's truck, too. Side note: I do miss the volume knob even though I have my steering wheel controls and the screen does gestures for volume and searching/skipping. I'm just old-school like that.

Thanks for this video! Aside: Kinda sad CDs are dying. Neither batteries/wires nor fading connectivity signals. Also, no apps to deal with and zero ads, ever. I do use AUX when I need to use Spotify.

Normally I only purchase big name brand head units, but I was looking for a larger touchscreen than the standard 7" for the large dash of my Tundra. I went with the Dual DMCPA11BT, because it has a huge, floating 10 inch capacitive touchscreen, higher resolution than most at 1024x600 (compared to 800x480), and it was under $300 (I paid $250). It looks and sounds great. Has been working flawlessly for 6 months. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking at a larger screen HU.

Too bad none of them have a detachable faceplate for security. That should be #1 concept for all aftermarket radios.

Not many double din radios have ever been detachable. I remember only JVCs about 7-8 years ago. Maybe alpine had one or two ... but I’m not sure.

And that's the issue, double dins not being detachable. People break in vehicles and steal. I refuse to be a victim all because someone cant get a job and earn their own radio. Pioneer AVH-4100nex is the one solely because of detachability.

I want to upgrade my 2016 Honda Civic lx radio because it only has Bluetooth but after researching entry level units with Apple CarPlay and android auto and seeing all the shortcomings and quality issues I’ve come to the conclusion it’s probably best to stick with my factory Bluetooth radio and phone mount.

Thanks! I needed this info. I’m still researching....all I want is gps sat nav (off line due to cell reception issues. My phone is stuff with maps) & CarPlay. All other features are low priorities. (Garmin, TomTom has ugly interfaces & they clutter up the car ....got several) I can’t stand remote

look into pure android stereos. They have tradeoffs but if GPS and apps are important, nothing even comes close. I have a six core one, it is faster than some phones, I can run any GPS app, car OBD gauges, etc. The audio compares with what the car came standard with, you can always improve it if you want better sound.

You should talk about screen brightness and other functions like lowering and raising the volume, for example, the JVC and kenwood are really bad because they stop continues volume increase at level 15 which is very annoying specially If you use the car every single day and I believe the alpine stops around 25 and after that you have to raise, one level at a time per Click. The screen brightness of the JVC is also very bad and in a bright day, it gets a lot of glare and it’s really hard to see the screen. These things are more important than knowing if it comes with the remote or not.

Love the pioneer. It’s made really well and has just as many features as the rest of them. Really wanted to include it but it was slightly more than the $299 mark at the time. All these radios are now well over $299

So my question is how is the volume on the Alpine. It has 45x4 but that is the peak. The RMS power is 16-18 depending on where I look. The JVC is listed at 45x4 but the RMS is 21. So is the volume on the Alpine sufficient or do you need to buy the amp that you can attach to the back of it?

I had the Sony one in my Honda Civic and it was pretty nice except there was one major flaw. In the older Honda Civics, the radio is in direct sunlight. This was really a big problem in the summer because all of the ports would bake in the sun and it would take somtimes up to 30 minutes for them to cool down enough to be useable. But the bluetooth always worked, so I just used that to play music.

Well I might have a easy cheap solution to that.... I bought this security plastic cover originally for my stereo 9 years ago (because someone kept breaking onto my car and stealing my radio) so it originally did a great job fooling theives once I installed another new (at the time) Kenwood DNX radio Then I moved to the south and bought a convertible (2G gst Spyder) and ALWAYS left my top down so I used that same cover to protect my screen and inputs from that brutal direct sunlight while it was in park and sitting outside and now it's been 6 years that I used this $11 cover that acts more of a sunlight protector than a thief deterrent on the same radio for the past 6 years and it has not had a single problem all these years, no touch screen issues or sun spots or dead pixels, I can say this cover is truly well worth the $20 I paid (at the time) now it's priced $11 www.amazon.com/XTRONS-Security-Panel-Double-Player/dp/B00JRUIMHM

Live the review, but how do you feel about the pioneer stereos mentioned? I plane to get the 2660 nex i believe is what it was. Curious if its worth the extra cash. I need the 4 volts as i only run amps i need the andriod as i generally use my phone for as much as possible with my head units. My biggest concern is where headunits clip. Because i run a high current high output system.

My son and I just installed the Alpine plus amp and kicker speakers and sub only to have the car broken into in my garage 2 weeks ago. It was in our project car that he and I have been restoring. It took us 3 years to restore our 1970 Challenger. The Stereo system was the last peace to the restoration. $2000.00 canadian down the drain. Now I need to find a secret santa bacause we can not afford to put another system into it. I loved that head unit.

@@BreakersStereo The worst part is now i am on permanent disability from a work accident and I get paid peanuts compared to what I used to make. So that being said. it will be at least 3 years before I can put another system of any kind to replace it. I really hate thieves. I did email a few manufactures to see if they could possibly donate at least a head unit to me. I figured out with the amount of systems they send to You Tube creators for free to review they may have one to donate to my son and I. Yea, that did not go well a tall when they did reply. And I have a huge pride issue and do not like asking for anything. The only reason I did ask is because my son mentioned it and he really knew how upset I was. $2000.00 is a lot to loose to thieves.

The ILX-W650 also uses the Alpine "Tune It" app which add a TON more features.

@@av8rbri473 I have it and it is (wired) Apple CarPlay and Android auto read. Waze is compatible and I use it everyday. I also had a backup camera installed and also idatalink maestro, which allowed me to retain factory features and I can also see info on my car like tire pressure or if the check engine light came on I can see the code right then.

Yes it would there is a kit that Metra makes a kit for your model car it’s the 99-3018 you will also need the steering wheel control and backup camera adapter.

Love ur reviews, what’s ur thoughts on the pioneer dmh-220ex? Difficult finding reviews for this particular pioneer model is all. I’m deciding between the pioneer or atoto a6. I’m hearing there’s an issue with the atoto and subwoofers. I’d like to keep my budget under $200. Anyhow, any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

What's the difference between the kenwood DMX 47s and 4707s. They both look identical and seem to have all the same features. but the 4707s which is the one that I have. Actually costs a bit more. Why is that? what's the difference between them?

They are the same radio it’s just one is for Distributors that can sell to any store and one for dealers direct. The 4707 is for dealers direct so you’ll pay a little more because it’s more price protected.

Stay away from Alpine speakers though, Bought a pair and after 2 years the rubber cone disintegrated and had holes in it, the other speaker just simply stopped working!

I like his pace, he covered a lot of information under 8 min. A lot of videos takes wayy too long, and I usually speed it up like 1.5X. I mean, if you wanna, you can adjust the playback speed to 0.5X lol

Im stuck between Alpine Ilx-w650 and Pioneer DMH1500NEX between these two which one do you recommend ?

Alpine. But the pioneer is a good radio too, it didn’t make the cut on this video because it retails for $345. One thing I don’t like on the pioneer is the rca output is low

@@BreakersStereo so I got the alpine ilx-w650 but I’m hearing a hiss, might need new speakers my car is a Nissan Altima 2013 coupe size 6.5 what speakers do you recommend? I definitely like bass but also want it to sound nice & clear. Can you actually make a video of speakers!

@@SuperGiggles1o1 you'll never get lots of bass out of 6.5 speakers especially without an amp. Better to add a 10" sub and amp

With apple car play and android auto can apps be downloaded because I can’t seem to get it to work with that new stinger 10in radio. Could u help me with a read up that allows me to download my iPhone apps My budget is around 2000 max

I've got a cheap chinese made android HU for under $200 with 10 inch floating screen. Too bad it didn't come with Android Auto or Apple Carplay. I recently added a cheap dongle for $9 that plugs into the USB port and adds these features. It works great.
