Absolutely The Philippines is probably my favorite country now. My wife was born there but raised in the US. But her family has a home in Bauang. I highly recommend the Philippines.

Another good video, my friend, I think English is important in these countries, especially if you’re living there full-time.

Yes not knowing the language can be part of the adventure when you travel. But as you start to settle in and realize even the simplest or most mundane tasks becomes much more difficult. Settling somewhere that has some level of english adds a level of convenience

Few are very 'desirable' w/o a lot of money ! -- If cost of living is a high priority the Philippines is the only real choice for an expat to live cheaply. You report it as 62% less than the US - some other reliable source reports 70% less than the US average. Perhaps both are true depending on the areas ? Another source I found reported 1/3 the cost of living compared to the US. -- All ball park numbers which confirm a significant savings for the necessities of everyday living. Hot oppressive weather is the normal except for a few areas. --- Seems better than being homeless on the streets in the US if you can't afford the ridiculous rents ? Expats can enjoy a more stress free life with some financial relief when on low budgets. Several expats 'survive' there alone somewhat comfortably below $1000/mo. for their basic recurring expenses. Not all Americans would like living that way but it does beat being homeless.

Yes. I always hate to give hard numbers but if I don’t give something the viewer doesn’t really have a sense of what the differences are. I’ve lived all over the US and my cost of living in rural GA vs San Diego is significantly different. So when various sources compare the cost of living it’s a challenge to determine what they are using to determine the American side of the equation. Then when you look at a country like the Philippines are they comparing something like Manila or a small town. So yes I’d treat those numbers as ball park. But as you say they are still significant savings nonetheless. And you are right, it makes no sense to struggle in the US for the rest of your life when you can live quite comfortably overseas.

I’d have to go back to my notes to see where I found some of the various stats. But I remember I found the English related information from something called the English Index.

At a certain age you don’t want to learn a new language. You list is wrong, you are looking at native speakers not L1 & L2

English speaking countries are those where the population speak English as their native tongue. the fact that many or some people can speak English in some foreign countries that does not necessarily mean those countries are English speaking countries. Australia, for example, is an English speaking country, but not the Philippines.

sure but I think you understand what I was talking about. I do list the top english speaking countries and that covers the ones that are native english speakers. People know what those are. They are more interested in the ones where English is widespread as a second language.
