I have been doing martial arts for over 5 decades now, have a 3rd dan in WTF TKD, 15 yrs experience in Wing Chun and 3 yrs as an amateur boxer. During my time I have been a keen student of martial arts watching and reading about many styles. In My humble opinion Kyokushin is the most effective and yes, brutal of all the Karate styles

I did kyokushin almost 40 years ago, found it powerful and effective. In those days we used simple but very powerful leg techniques ,Maegeri and Mawashigeri kicks . Those kicks finished fights very quickly. Found Kyokushin way superior to Funakoshi and JKA styles

First... Ossu on the good work! Pls, guys, don't be confused between the flexibility and properties of one individual and your performance and joint health. The technique demonstrated will hurt your knee (medial meniscus and low back L4-L5 vertebrae) big time, as you get a little older. Not forever strong... and then... it can't be repaired. Not all trainees are the same. Some can exercise this Mawashi for some time and most cannot. I had soooo many students and 'Kaigin' colleagues to prove this point. Be advised and very careful what you do to your body and joints. Well, I humbly learned something in 52 Kyokushin practicing years (6 Roku Dan) and M.D Ph.D. wisdom. Even sensei Oyama in the 70's old Hunbu, used to preach to us that fact, especially as 'Kaigin's, that evolved a little differently. He was NOT that flexible at all and asked other students to demo. Take this advice at face value or leave it. All is good. Still, Only the strongest (and wise) survive. A big Ossu to one and all and a happy new year.

@@kbanghart I am not saying wrestling or boxing is good enough to fight on the street and beat everyone but any of them is good enough to kill any karate 10dan who never practiced head punching/ head guard in real sparring and know 1000techniques but he only know how to fight in kyokushin rules. you can't use complicated technique on the street without practicing it in real sparring. Head punching and defense is most basic thing to do. You have to train head punch defense to survive real fight. Sparring with no head punches is good for kids or beginners to learn footwork or overcome stress but you have to go deeper to learn self defense ;)
