I’ve been to the Philippines and it was the most beautiful place in the world! They have over 7,000 islands of pure beauty. I’ve heard Cebu is one of the staples. You all should definitely go, make an video eating balut but show us your top islands.

Any day that starts with a garlic breakfast is going to be a good day. Mrs. Rick, being Ilocano, prefers her longganisa a little more vinegary than sweet. We were on the west coast of Luzon last month visiting Mrs. Rick's hometown, which is a fishing village. The only way to get fresher Kinilaw na Tuna than what we had for lunch would be to eat it in the banka (fishing boat). It came directly from the West Philippine Sea to the kitchen. There was so much tasty seafood every day. Good to see Chicago represented so well. We are a little envious of our California family, as you cannot walk down the street there without tripping over a quality Filipino restaurant. Here in Chicagoland it is a little harder to find. Good thing I am married to a superb cook.

Man, Uncle Mikes Place looks amazing. I went on their Yelp as I was very curious to see what the skirt steak looked like, and the photos I saw makes me want to get to Chicago pronto lol.

All of my filipina wife's favorites are in this video! I'd have to agree with your SO that lumpia is #1 among non filipinos it's my personal fave as well. Lines look insane for kasama we'll hopefully get in there when it dies down a little. Thanks for showing us around!

I'm a fan of filipino food, the video brings me back memories when I visited the Philippines, the breakfast looked banging, when I was in Chicago I ate at that same spot in Urbanspace since I was staying nearby. Great video as always.

👋 new subscriber here. Favorite 🇵🇭 foods: vegetable lumpia both fresh & fried, embutido, empanadas, kare ² ,mungo, sinigang, bbq on the stick, asado. Favorite 🇵🇭 desserts: cassava cake, fruit salad, leche flan, mamon. Thanks for sharing all these spots! Looking forward to part 2.

I have lived in Uptown for over 20 years, I recall seeing Isla Filipina for years while riding the bus. I ate there once years ago, I forgot the entree I purchased. I had no idea it relocated downtown.

LOVE THE VID! Thought of it again today when I was in the misnamed French Market off the Clinton Pink/Green Line getting some great (in my experience) Filipino food! By the way! you should do a video about that market!! It reminded me of the Reading terminal market in Philly, but it deserves WAY more patrons than it currently has! It is so easy to get to being at a major hub for the metra, but also with the L right there! Plus, there's a bike lane! :) I do wish it had a different name though, 'Metra market', or 'Transit Market' would be FAR better, as most of the shops in there aren't even French Cuisine! :) If you do go, tell the nice folks at 'Joker's Cajun Kitchen and Bar' that I loved the crawfish special (especially after I added a LOT of hot sauce)! haha
