I've walked many miles on the hospital floors already, and love to overthink footwear! Let me know what works for you-- I'm always curious on what keeps people comfortable when they're moving for 12 hours straight!
Products I shouted out in this video (not sponsored-- I wish!!):
ProCompression (Marathon, knee high)
Red Wing (Heritage Boots: Iron Ranger)
Bombas socks (merino wool, knee high)

As a nurse since 1991, now a teacher, I have always believed in Danskos. A friend fell in hers years ago and was out of commission for months. Her dr told her to never wear Danskos. I’ve always loved them but now I don’t wear them. I would notice I roll my ankles in them often. Thank you for this video!

I've been a nurse for 42 years. Started wearing Danskos when they first came out. They work for me.

I’ve been wearing Dansko clogs for years. I do a lot of fast walking/running around all night, prefer the lighter weight and more cushioned XP 2. I wear compression anklet socks, where the compression is around the arch area of the foot. I’ve never fallen in Danskos, but will admit I have rolled over on my ankle a few times…funny thing is, it never happens when I’m running around, it happens when I’m standing still, or turning. Never enough to hurt myself, but it’s a risk. I tried buying sneakers for work, but I just hate the way they look. I have NEVER seen a nurse wearing lace up boots! The one shoe I hate that everyone seems to be wearing now are the Crocs, and I’ve seen a lot of people fall in them! They are too lightweight, and now the style is the flared out sole…I think they are less safe than Danskos.

Yep. Clogs are very injurious. If you in toe, as I do, you need the support. I actually work in occupational health and the guys in the construction industry know the secret. I also like your compression sleeve idea because the feet in regular compression socks, I get squished toes and blisters.

As a father in law, I'm doing some research on what kind of shoe I will be buying for the kid. I might have to save this one to show her. They look about as far away from a nurses' shoe as one could think, unless it was on M.A.S.H. lol Really proves your point about no one shoe.

Did you have to learn how to “hear” with your CI? I had mine activated a few days ago and I hear static and buzzing. 😕

Girl the reason you love your boots are because most highend boot brands use cork and leather insoles which are natural materials that mold to your feet.

Ok first of all can yall stop talking about her looks? How pretty a healthcare worker is is so unimportant in the care you receive. She looks professional, clean, and ready to work. Thats as far as we should be looking at her appearance. Shes there to do her job, not be fawned over by people who think she wants to hear about how pretty she is. She worked her ass off in school, clinicals, and work, and to have her expertise and intelligence completely disregarded for "you're so pretty" is frankly insulting. Second, thank you for the advice on shoes. I might try your boots as overly soft-heeled shoes absolutely kill my feet.

I wear corks (spike bottomed logging boots) even to Church, because I broke my r foot in the Navy & my other foot after Christmas. I tried on Dansko professional clogs for a friends daughter who will graduate Penn State Nursing (I have tiny narrow flat feet with bad ankles that are her size). Since I wear my corks 12hrs a day for work, & can't wear sneakers, do you think Dansko's would be ok for me? (They make mens versions) If anyone knows, how long do they last? Elsewise I'd have to get another pair of boots made ~$500 without the corks.

I've been wearing Danskos since they first came out. I've never had a problem with them. I've been a nurse over 40 years. They work well for me. I find them to be comfortable and supportive for my feet. In all the years I've been wearing them, I've never rolled either ankle. They work well for me.

I have a fairly narrow foot, and arch pain in my left. I like the Dansko XP2 clog, which is lighter weight and more cushioned than regular Danskos. With 40hr per week wear, mine last at least a year before the uppers start to look a little beat up. Structurally, I could probably get another year out of them, but if you want them to look nice, then a little less. I’ve been considering getting one of the pro versions of the Birkenstock Boston. I wear Birkenstocks outside of work, and you can’t beat the comfort.
