I'm a big fan of Cakewalk! I like to record using my audio interface as well as a midi controller and out of the "box", cakewalk has all the built in plug ins to get you started. From someone who is pretty much a beginner at using it, having all the resources available in the DAW without having to go look for more plug ins made it easy to learn how to get everything rolling with my recordings.

Absolutely. When I was testing out the software I found I was using a lot of the standard cakewalk plugins in the other daws more then their stock plugins.

Yea. Cakewalk. And Sonar.. I remember when It complemented my SP606 sampler. Happy to see it make a comeback...

I want to learn it but I CANOT get my headphones (regular headphone jack into my computer) and (I still hear them in my mic but the beat and audio tracks play out loud from my TV/monitor)

Reaper is $60 for personal/small business license. I’ve used the DAW for about 5 years now for audio production and mixing. For anyone who’s wants a DAW that has the flexibility to grow and change as you do with your craft, I highly recommend trying it out. Thanks for this video.

Reaper is the best option for someone who doesn't have much money to invest because they likely don't have a top of the line computer too and that's where Reaper is excellent as it's very lightweight and runs fine even on old computers, vst3 support etc., Also, on live audio is the standard software used now to record huge multitrack files of every show and to use it for virtual soundcheck

That’s amazing. I would love to see what the smallest set I could build to run a full out reaper project. And on Linux. I always forget to mention Linux :D

@@nickiden Yes, it works great on Linux too, I wish they could port it to iOS as it'd run fine on newer iPads with M1 / M2 chips... I still have it running fine on an old work laptop for live gigs and virtual soundcheck, it's an i7 2nd gen with 16GB RAM and Windows XP

Reaper is the best wave editor I've experienced. A instructor for CUBASE who professionally used Steinberg in a class room setting told me that Reaper was his personal Daw of choice..

Would you have trouble with file transferring when sending it to another engineer for mixing when it come to Cake Walk ? A lot prefer pro tools .

I think I’d you make sure all your audio is starting at zero and you have good audio names you should be good

Audacity has made awesome improvements lately.. but the best feature is the incredible details provided in the Metadata as an option providing data entry when importing finished tracks n exporting. Why is it that everything has to be stopped by the transport to make edits? It's been that way since it made its way into the world of music..

Maybe I have bad taste, but I'm a little surprised that many ppl think Reaper's GUI is "ugly", lol. I like the way it looks, but maybe I'm crazy or something.

No you’re not crazy :). It’s totally subjective. Haha I always like picking on reaper but it’s a very functional ui. Haha if I had my way I’d bring back the pro tools 5.3 look which is way uglier. But for some reason I always liked it haha

I bounce back and forth between CbB and Reaper. Reaper is really flexible but is ugly (it ain’t got not alibi) and CbB is nice to look at while working. In CbB, F and Ctrl-F are my friends.

I started with Cakewalk, and was wondering how good it is. Back in the day, you had to pay hundreds of dollars for this DaW. Maybe thats one reason. I dont believe, there is a better Free-DaW with more possibilities. But i think its not free anymore, not sure...

I think they are going to be releasing Sonar now. So, I’m not sure but maybe cakewalk will be free and Sonar will be the upgrade?

Audacity is great after finishing a project in a different DAW.. importing that raw WAV.. into Audacity, and inputting the tracks information thru its Metadata.. and exporting the track after complete. Also has a great normalization feature.
