Today I will be going over a question I hear a lot - what is the best glue for paper crafts. I see so many people asking how to choose the best glue so thought I would review the top 5 craft glues that I see recommended in various craft groups. I purchased these glues to review so you could see how these paper crafting glues work so you can decide which adhesive or glue is best for you.
Here are the links to the paper craft glues:

I LOVE Aleene's glue & have used it for years but not so much for paper, unless it's quite thick.. I use it for florals, thicker items & it has never let me down. On outdoor wreaths, cold temps do not affect it! For thin paper (I make tons of cards for our big family), inexpensive UHU glue sticks from 99 cent store work very well.

Mike, Thanks a bunch for this video. I'm especially glad you pointed out the Latex Allergy issue with Tombow. I like to do crafting at schools, and Latex isn't allowed so that was very good to know. Aleene's has a large number of adhesives on the market--very good family business--you really lucked out finding it at Dollar Store! As for Art Glitter Glue, while it is pricey, the amount needed is so minuscule compared to other glues a bottle lasts for ages. I have an eight oz. bottle that I've used constantly for a year, and it's only halfway gone. Love it! Another good product is Ranger Multi-Medium Mat, available from Amazon. Dries totally mat--buying the 3-oz. jars is more economical and buying the empty, fine-tipped bottles (found on the same page) so you can refill from the jar works awesomely.

Hi, Beverly! Glad you found the video helpful. I have also used the Ranger Multi Medium and usually transfer it into the smaller fine tip bottle. I debated on adding that to this video but didn't for 2 reasons. 1 it was a long video and 2 it wasn't the top 5 people recommended for paper crafting but did fall into a glue for embellishments. I may make another one at some point as there are tons of other glues on the market that are excellent choices for embellishments. I also didn't include dry adhesive like tapes for the same above reasons. :) xoxo Mike

Thank you for this comparison! I used to use Scotch, then switched to Art Glitter several years ago. I mainly use my ATG gun with Scotch adhesive rolls but the refills have become very scarce and expensive so I was thinking about going back to using more liquid glue. Appreciate the work! Rhonda

That was interesting. I have used most of those glues. Right now, I’m using the Tombo because of the two sizes of applications.

Thank you for taking the time to do this! For many years, I have used glossy accents in a fine tip bottle. It works fantastic but is awful to glue itself shut quickly. I will offer the info that if you glue yours shut, you can remove the cap, put tinfoil over the bottle opening & soak the fine tip lid in super hot water for a few minutes to reopen it. I also have read that the green label tombo is great to apply to the back of clear stamps that are no longer sticky enough to cling to your blocks. I currently have swapped to & love the art glitter glue. Thanks again for sharing this info!!

I am an avid At Glitter Glue User. One thing I have discovered over the years is that I use much less glue to do the job so the price is not so bad when you consider that. Less is more with this stuff. It is also great for gluing on trims, metal findings etc that I had no luck with other glues holding. Very helpful video.

isappb AG Art Glitter Glue has been my go to glue since this video. I really love the fine tip and I only need a small amount. I have also been using it to adhere glitter. I am now an avid user also 😊 I will have to talk about that in my next video although that is the glue seen in almost all videos since this one. Just love it!

I'd love to see these after aging, to see if they have yellowed over time. Additionally, I would like to see a test of strength after 1 or 2 years. Permanence is also a very important consideration for many applications.

I have used Tombo for the last 6 years of crafting/card making and have never had mine come spewing out the way yours did plus i leave mine upside down all the time. I purchase mine from Michael's for $3. something.......much cheaper than Amazon or where ever you purchased yours for $7. something plus shipping. Also there is a little yellow square eraser that you can purchase to remove dried glue from your work.....it comes in very handy. Thanks for the demonstrations with the different glues!

Thanks, Deanna! I will have to check that out at Michael's. I tried to represent a place to purchase glue that is available to a majority of viewers. I know not all of them are from the U.S. and some don't have access to local big crafting stores. 🙂

Thank you for this review. The prices of Amazon as expressed below may be higher than where others can find it, but for those that hate to shop in public places (me) Amazon is my go to. But you present a very clear argument for getting to the Dollar Tree. I will have to check there next time I am out and about and in need of glue. :) Thanks Again.

Thanks, Paula! Well said, I was also trying to give information based on a resource available to almost everyone (with the exception of Dollar Tree). Not everyone has access to the big craft stores or know of the little 1 off shop that sells this and that for less money. I normally buy my items off Amazon, even things you can buy locally, because it's easier and I receive my items in 1 day. :)

Thanks for this comparison. A couple of tips. On the Tacky Glue with gloppy nozzle, simply unscrew the nozzle cap from the bottle and wash the cap and nozzle in your kitchen sink under running, medium hot water to get it completely clean(may have to use a cotton swab) and reinstall the cap. You can use a straight or hat pin with large plastic piece on the non-pointed end as a way of sealing it from air, and preventing the "glops" from forming. This cleaning tip applies to any water-soluble modern glue (Elmer's glues, Lineco glues, various types of Titebond glue, and other types of white glue that come in plastic bottles and which may sit on a shelf for months, if not a year or so. The Straight pin sealing tip applies only to those glues without a built-in cap which can be twisted to close or open the nozzle. If you want a smaller opening in the top than you were getting using scissors or a craft knife, go outside and hold a small diameter, 1" to 1.5" brad nail or similar length sewing needle securely with pliers, heat the nail or needle with a butane-type lighter and carefully melt a much smaller hole down the center of the cap by driving the hot needle or brad nail through the top of the cap with the pliers. Tiny jewelers twist frills in a pin vise can be used to drill smaller or larger holes without using any heat. The are listed on Amazon in convenient sets as Hand Drill Set with Pin Vise. Here's a $12.99 set on Amazon with its complete name - "Pin Vise Hand Drill for Jewelry Making - Craft911 Manual Craft Drill Sharp HSS Micro Mini Twist Drill Bits Set, Small Hand Drill for Resin, Rotary Tools for Wood, Jewelry, Plastic, Miniature - Golden." (The specific link is too long and might be removed by You Tube.) I personally tend to buy several smaller bottles of those types of glues which tend to start drying out and going bad just as soon as the glue inside the bottle is first exposed to air. In my mind it is false economy to buy large bottles of glue, unless you are positive that the contents will be used within a month or so - half a bottle of dried up glue is useless. This concept also applies to CA glue - I buy multiple small tubes of Crazy Glue or Kraken Glue instead of a single large bottle, unless I'm positive I'll use the entire bottle in fewer than 30 days and will remember to store the opened, but sealed bottle in a refrigerator in an airless, double-sealed Zip-Lock bag. I also keep spray cans of inert gas on hand to prevent such spoilage, whether in glues inside Zip-Lock bags or in the containers of other craft chemicals I use.

I really like that you did the comparisions. My favorite of those you shared would be the Art Glitter Glue because I like the fine tip,...but I don't like the price. My favorite glue I have been using forever is Beacon 3 in 1 and I think I will have to do a review on it and then send my viewers to your video so they can see these. It's good to share comparisons and reviews in case people didn't know about some of them so it introduces them to knew products. Thanks for this :) Hugs...Janie

Great comparisons of all the glues, Mike. Thank you! I bought the Art Glitter glue and I am still trying to get used to it. I am having a difficult time. It does work well, but I just think it is a bit watery for my taste. I have difficulty using it with my textured papers for 3D projects. It works better for me for designs without a lot of bends. I tend to use Scotch Quick Dry or Aleene's Tacky Glue (including Quick Dry version). When I need a finer tip, I just use a Fineline Applicator for Scotch. I have not found a great fine tip for Aleene's yet. I prefer using Scotch with the fineline applicator rather than the bottle. I prefer using Aleene's Tacky glue or Beacon Fabri-Tac when I need a little more wiggle time to move the paper around. Sometimes Scotch just dries too quickly. Thanks again for the great video!

I happen to use the Lineco, and purchase it at Blick Art store. On-line the 4 oz is only $3.42. I buy the Quart bottle , which is $17.35, which translates to $2.16 for 4 oz. This does not come with an applicator top, so I use a couple of different dispenser bottles, one being the Fineline Applicator 18 gauge tip. Thanks for all of the info, Mike! I'd been curious about a couple of these glues, so my curiosity has now been quelled, and I'll stick with my Lineco.

The comparison cost of the Art Glitter Glue is not really accurate. First you bought a small bottle off Amazon. If you had bought a bottle off another site, she sells it in big refill bottles cheaper that i refill my small bottle. That alone brings the cost of my small bottle down. Second, you bought it with the tip. Yes, you need the tip on your first purchase, but after that you keep using the same metal tip, the cost of the glue goes down if you had considered those variables.
