Hi Shamus, thank you. I have recently had experience with 4 of their current models and been honestly very impressed with them all. They just have all the basics right, Output vs weight and run times, advanced focused system, build quality, IP ratings and a few other nice touches not to mention a competitive price and 7 year warranty... Hey Luke good to hear from you. Honestly I have a bit of a thing with lights... Actually had my first 1000 lumen headtorch 9 years ago. I was very disappointed with it and many others over the years until I came across the Core series from Ledlenser. These lights instantly ended my search for the perfect light.. Simple to use giving the user easy control of power 🔋 and beam pattern even with gloves on. Built like a tank too and still not too heavy. Really trust mine on harsh conditions too as dropped my H15R into a puddle by mistake and it survived total emersion no problem at all. ATVB and thanks for your comments..Tom

The negative aspect of the magnetic contact charger is that you might need to buy multiple cables. I’ve been using Micro USB cables that are readily available and cheap to buy/replace. Should you forget to pack this dedicated cable for more than one night away… you’re screwed. Secondly the magnetic contact charging cable could easily be knocked off while man-handling or charging the torch in your backpack or vehicle. I’ve been promised a few extra charging cables from the local LedLenser dealer to make up for this oversight.
@TOMHEANEY100
@TOMHEANEY100 2 жыл бұрын
Hi thank you for your comments. You always need to know the pros and cons of every system and you have identified two valid cons. We have all got very used to USB Charging and the benefits of it being so universal. However both my Android phone and wife's iPhone will not charge if the charging USB port gets wet. Could this be why companies such as LedLenser, and Garmin , for example do not use USB charging on many of their products which are designed to be used in the outdoors. Having a cover over the USB port would not be my preference either as if its not pressed fully home or if it wears over the years it would increase the chance of failure. The magnetic charging is actually an improvement IMO over USB for an outdoor product as the product has a total seal for water and dust ingress. This is vital to me as I use my HeadLamps in extreme conditions and have dropped them into water on a couple of occasions by mistake and the lights go on working and can be charged at any time. So for me not an oversight by Ledlenser but showing innovation. Yes the cable is possible to be knocked off a little easy but this just needs to be managed against the other benefits that I have highlighted. ATB Tom

@@TOMHEANEY100 hiya 👋 In my case I live in the Middle East where water and moisture isn’t really an issue. My previous LedLenser developed a fault so the local distributor replaced it under warranty with this later model… that honestly I would never have purchased because of the two drawbacks that I mentioned. I use my head torch between five vehicles on two continents… previously I was able to leave a micro USB lead in each vehicle knowing that I had a means of charging the head torch no matter what… now I’m limited to one cable between five vehicles…. human nature dictates that I may lose or forget to bring that dedicated cable with me… if I forget them I’m screwed. As an off-roader and Overlander I religiously plug in my torch for charging every morning before the days drive… the micro usb has never ever fallen out while driving at 70mph across the Sahara or bouncing through the dunes of Arabia. I’m afraid I don’t have the confidence of a magnetic contact charging system… I’ve got three other hand held LedLenser torches that use the same system and I’ve had to redesign the charging cradle to ensure the torch stays connected/charging throughout the day. Let’s see how this replacement goes… in skeptical and happy to be proved wrong… although I’m a tad miffed at having to buy 4 more cables… one in each vehicle! Keep up the good content Tom!

@@streakychambers658 Hi It was great to hear of what you are doing and putting a lot of Equipment through its paces I am sure. For what you are doing I can totally understand the issues of cables to charge electronic equipment. I have a drawer full of them in the house never mind them being in a number of vehicles...Ledlenser have two lanterns that I have tested, the ML4 and the ML6, they even have different magnetic charging cables so another hunt for the right one in my home when using the lanterns ha ha . Hi Raymond thank you for your comments. Really good to hear that you have the H7R Core, its my favourite. I still have the H15 too as I also love it but its just a bit heavier and more bulky. I have also noticed that the spot on the H15 is not as tight as the H7. Just a few extra pointers before you make the decision to go for the H15, not really being critical but worth noting. If I didn't love mine I would sell it so I think that says it all. ATB and I too am such a LEDLENSER fan as I have been disappointed with so many lights of all descriptions in the past. Tom

LOVE your review However i went for the 15r, as i think its suits better for my need. i also want a good all rounder for many things but having a maximum output on great flood is for me a bigger priority then for you i think, so having a lesser narrow beam is something i can live with.Second most important to me is great life battery. realizing its bulkier and heavier, but then im also a heavy bulky man 😄 Im handling it just fine thus far. first time i had this brand, feels amazing,durable and quality!

Hey, I really appreciate this reply and you sharing your experience of the H15R Core. It's a great headlamp and offers much more throw of light when in the flood setting. Once you pull back the spot onto the flood in the h7 you really notice that's its more one choice or the other if you know what I mean. I actually bought the H15 first before the h7 and its a fantastic all round light. Build quality and choice of materials are all great as are the warranty and the ingress protection from water and dust..... ATB and thank you for sharing once again.... Tom

I have the H15R Work. Call me old fashioned, but having a long beam range has always been important for me. I've had the LED Lenser slimline AA model for donkies years and it has never let me down. With the H15 headtorch out on the hills I can see precisely where I am going on the trail. Similarly, having the extra capacity for those times when you might be off grid (or on site) for longer periods between charging is defo a brucie bonus. Having the ability to reduce the lumen output when on a high camp is such a good innovation too to extend battery life.

The H7R Core has just came onto my radar for the price vs spec. Weight is good , beam distance and output is good. Other alternatives are from Fenix with the H65 but more cost.

Thank you for your comments. Had a look at the Fenix and it looks good re power, weight, run times and IP ratings etc. Might be slightly front heavy as battery and lenses are both at the front of the light. Seems to get good reviews too. The deal breaker for me is the manual adjustment of your light output by rotating the dial on the Ledlenser so that you can select exactly how much light you want and don't have to cycle through pre selected outputs! Really appreciate the details especially based upon personal experience! My only criticism is talking too fast!...Although I understand there is a limited amount of time for such a presentation. I had to slow down to 75% to catch the details that were most important to me! Unfortunately I am from a couple generations older than those whom would meet upon this site. In General: People today simply talk way to fast and speak in what-ever-sing-song fashion of the moment... often times with squeaky tones and as though speaking in a Foreign tongue! This I understand is a result of our proclivity towards our technologies where we live by texting and cell phones... we often do not even acknowledge the human being right next to us!

Hi Michael, thank you for your comments. I actually speak quite slow in real life and this is how I would prefer to conduct my reviews. The reality here is that these reviews take massive time and effort and I need the views and watch time to return a tiny amount of financial support. £4.00 per 1000 views that's the rate.... Most people this day and age just won't watch my content unless I deliver it fast and slick.... You have to get the message across quickly or else the viewers click on something else. I even speeded up one of my videos in the editing process to deliver the content quicker... Competition is fierce with new content creators starting up channels all the time, I am just trying to survive and keep this going as I really enjoy it.
