I've been watching your videos about watches for a while and made a decision to buy Seiko 5 Sports with blue dial & have been saving money for it from my pocket money but I have a crucial question about its maintenance as I've come across a video in youtube in which the person said "sometimes the maintenance of a mechanical watch costs more than the watch itself" , so it is true to have a watch of 25k INR and after 5 or 10 years paying same amount for its maintenance as it is a high amount for a middle class person to pay that much for maintenance. Can you please answer my question as I want to buy a mechanical watch but it is not possible for me to spend this much ammount for its maintenance.

Tbh I also have seiko sports 5 LE 140th Anniversary edition. Maintenance is dependent on how you keep the watch and what care you take. If your watch is lying on your table or anywhere open where dust etc is being collected on it. Then it will require maintenance in like 3-4 years. But if you keep it clean and in a box or closed in a case when not wearing then it will not require maintenance that quickly. Also you should be careful while winding your watch as you can harm and break the mechanism that is why it is advised not to turn the crown in the opposite direction and between 9pm-3am. If you take reasonable care then you are good to go maintenance wont be anywhere near the cost of the watch.

Every 7 years if the watch is maintained properly you need to service it. Clean dirt, get the lubricant inside. Seiko 5 is not a complicated watch. Any 25000 watch will take around 5000-7000 rupees for repair (chading the glass, crown, straps etc) but its it just cleaning it will hardly take 3000 -4000 rupees expecting rupee depreciation in 7 years.

I gifted Pepsi dail to my dad. Got it for 5.5k I think. At that price, it's justified. Looks great. The bracelet doesn't cause any issues to my dad. But when I tried it, pulled my hair a bit. You can go for it for around 5k. Wouldn't recommend paying more.
