what is the purpose of the holes at the blades?

I have wondered the same thing. I think that some knives use a locking mechanism that goes through the hole (The knife in this video simply squeezes the base of the blade). At least, that is what I think it's for. I'm not 100% sure.

IMO the Fiskars brand crafting knife is the best

I actually have a Fiskars crafting knife now and definitely agree with you that it is better. However, at the time of making this review, I did not have possession of very many different knives. The one drawback with the Fiskars knife is that it only comes with one blade whereas these come with lots of replacements which makes them great for people just getting started.

I don't have experience cutting vinyl, but it seems like a hobby knife like the one from his video should work. If you want an upgrade, I just got this Fiskars hobby knife that is a little more durable and comfortable: amzn.to/3Es9iyH I hope this helps, - Eli
