I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the kzfaq.infoUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

This is a great video. But I will say there are less expensive options to your blue mats. I bought foam from a craft store and a stall mat. I cut the foam and stall mat to size then made a mat with 3 layers, foam/stall mat/foam. It works really well and there is almost no noise when I drop my barbell.

Sir, I am researching equipment to start my home gym. I have watched a lot of your videos and read a lot of your reviews. Do you still recommend the horse stall mats as the best flooring (since this video is 2 years old)? Also, did you have any issue with the smell of the mats? I read a few reviews that complained about a strong unpleasant smell. Thanks in advance!

The problem with stall mats is the smell. I had read about it but didn't realize how bad it would be until I had them in my car! It fades with time but I still have to air the garage when I workout many months later.

Nothing is perfect. Baby woke up, but went right back to sleep. I guarantee without those pads. He would've woke up. Crazy how well those work bro. Great video and shown examples. How much did you get those horse stall mats for a piece? "Exercise mats" go for almost a $100 a square on amazon for 1/2 inch. I have seen some stall mats go for $45-50. Does that sound about right for 3/4 inch?

I'm starting to build a home gym and was already considering stall mats. What in your opinion is the maximum deadlifting weight you should consider lifting on a stall mat before you should consider putting plywood or double layering stall mats to protect cement foundation? Since horses weigh approx. 800-2200 lbs. or 362-1000kg I am hoping a single horse stall mat can support the lifting and dynamic movements from potential falls from 100-400lbs or 45-200kg. Btw, in my particular case you're points about platforms were great; but I don't feel like I need a platform b/c I do straight deadlifts and avoid overhead lifts b/c of scoliosis.

Stall mats are carcinogenic. this reviewer has no clue what he’s talking about. These mats aren’t certified for indoor usage, do not pass any VOC testing and are meant for outdoors in barns.. underneath animals..hence the name “Stall Mats”. Other recycled rubber flooring is more expensive because it goes through a cleaning process to get rid of all reject materials to make it safe for indoor usage. When working out, oxygen is at a premium, you are ruining that by breathing in the off-gassing from stall mats.

Thanks Coop. Big fan. Does anyone in this chat experience the smell emanating from these pads? Haven’t pulled the trigger yet but leaning towards getting these mats. My garage has a slight pitch, about 1/2 inch leaning outside for obvious reasons. Any suggestions of how to level that part of my garage floor. Its a 3 car garage and utilizing the two car side which is about 200 square feet. Thanks everyone, stay safe. God bless America🙏🏼🇺🇸

Are they still a good idea? I followed the recommendation to use in-expensive horse stall mats from tractor supply. I put 6 in my basement before building a power rack on top of them. It's been a couple of weeks now and the smell coming into my house is awful. We get used to it until we leave for a bit and come back. Now if it makes any difference since this was made - I've read a few reviews on tractor supply's website that many folks complain they are not the mats they used to be. Mine have a diamond patter on top, not smooth. I've tried cleaning them with simple green based on some recommendations to no avail. I heard airing them out helps but that takes months outside in the sun. It's winter and they are enclosed with no windows in my basement. I'm also concerned after reading other opinions that we are breathing in harmful chemicals. I'm wondering if I need to swap out with mats made for the gym.

Its a personal choice, but horse stall mats give off very high VOCs and as a result are not good for your health. If you want rubber that is relatively safe go for Vulcanized SBR rubber mixed with virgin rubber (thats the color bits) OR if your lucky enough to afford the very best VIRGIN rubber (although not necessary since there is good alternatives in the SBR type) But really horse stall mats in enclosed space where you will go to work out is not healthy long term.

I am considering using this flooring and most likely going to cover a 9’ x 22’ area. Question 1.) Do you think I should still epoxy coat my entire concrete garage floor as I had planned on before laying down the horse stall mat material? Question 2.) do I need to use an adhesive to make them stay? I will need to cut the material to make them fit I think. The remaining area of my garage will be used for typical garage activity, home improvement projects, tool storage, etc. Concerned with the transition area from mat to bare concrete being a trip hazard or Coming up. Maybe I should just cover the whole floor with the horse stall mats then🤔 anyone with thoughts please chime in with suggestions... thanks

Stall mats are cool, but they’re awfully cumbersome to move into something like duplex building (especially alone, if even possible). They weigh at least 100 pounds and usually, 6x4 inches in length. When I had my gym in the basement, it was like hell hauling that thing downstairs and up. What would you suggest, that someone do if they didn’t had the manpower but needed to stall flooring for an up or downstairs area?

Wanted to buy but a lot of reviews said they kept getting different stall mats then pictured. I guess Id have to go in person because apparently ordering them they will give you mats that don't match up with what is pictured. :(

Hey Coop any advice for getting rid of the rubber VOC smell? I installed 15 mats in my basement and the smell is noticeable as soon as you enter the house. I've ordered an air purifier with an active carbon filter which I've heard helps, waiting for that to arrive from Amazon. Airing them outside in the sun doesn't quite work for me as i live in northern Canada...

I have a home gym in the process and have a gorilla exercise mat. I haven’t noticed any wobbliness or anything but the weights do leave a little crease/dent in the padding, but it’s temporary. Is it going to harm my flooring (I don’t really drop the weights because I don’t want to risk it)

im looking for some appropriate flooring as well, another home gym site suggested NOT using horsestall mats because they give off noxious and toxic fumes

Thanks for this video! I've had stall mats for a month. They work great, but they really stink. I'm concerned about the air quality and safety. Especially for my kids. Are you still digging these mats, or has your opinion changed on these? And does the smell subside?

Had our pound pads for about a year now...still work well but they have developed noticeable divots and the absorption/sound reduction has definitely worsened from when they were new. As I understand it they were coming out with a new and improved pad next year...

Aww, that's unfortunate to hear. Hopefully the durability increases.

You have to remember too. You should maybe put something under the seems of the stall mats so when you mop water won't get in between there

Hey Coop, as always another great video and congratulations on the little one! Any chance that when you finally get to completing your review of the Pound Pads you're able to find out the science behind them... such as the foams density & indention load deflection (ILD). If sure Titan Fitness is already cloning these as we speak, which is both good and bad.
