I can watch your tortoises channel all day ( around watching and caring for my own) . I suffered from some trauma and then depression for the past few years. A parent Suicide, Empty nest etc. Having tortoises has changed my life. It forces me out. Not just work sleep work sleep, work work…. I now go for walks . I can go grocery shopping without dreading the peopling part. Im so happy I made this decision to get two. They have given me purpose again. Like having 2 large zen gardens, but with tortoises.

Being a plant and animal lover, I have a concern that is sincere and not meant as a criticism. I'm sure that you research everything used in the environment of the enclosures. Qurstion: Are the plants safe for the turtles? And what are the plants called? That you for your beautiful videos.

Great enclosure. Thank you for ALL the info. I noticed those springtails in my baby box enclosure outside. I was going to replace the soil because I wasn’t sure what they were. I need to add leaf litter. Can I use leaf’s from any tree?

Thank you! Well, no some can be very toxic so try to stick to oak, magnolia or pine litter.

Do tortoises need heat lamp and Uv lamps in summer? My one tortouse doesnt mind but my smaller one, which both are in their own tanks, seems to want out. I put them to eat and stretch their legs in a puppy playpen seperate and then soaking dish. After couple of hours put them in own tanks for night. Their tanks each are 18x36.

I have plant questions . I have a terrarium setup similar for my 3 year old Eastern Box Turtle and I would love to have some live plants. I'm familiar with the plants used in this build, but would those same plants work well for Eastern's and other North American box turtle species?

I know there are a couple pieces of legislation that are supposed to modernize the ESA and prevent the adding of non native species and maybe even remove the exotic species that are currently listed under the ESA, which in my opinion will be a big win for conservation, as it will allow the establishment of captive bred populations for animals that are in desperate need of it

Actually yes, many species of turtle are illegal and it goes by country regulations and even state regulations.

I love how you install your plants, and that the turtles will be burrowing around them... do they eat the roots? Do you ever worry about the pesticides and fertilizers that are, I am assuming, on the bought retail plants that you install? Or do you get them somewhere else besides the regular nursery, Lowe's or Home Depot? Or... you could, if you got them there, hold them for 2-3 months and then install. They should be free of any pesticides or fertilizers at that point...🐢❤🪴
