Best Inflatable Boat | Stryker Hunter Jet 420 | Living Off Grid - Boat Access Only - My New Garden is Starting! Black Fish Hollow is an 8 Acre property in British Columbia, Canada. The property is BOAT ACCESS ONLY. NicHolistic and I bought a used in-board boat which has a small living quarters on board but it's a powerful gas guzzler! This Inflatable Boat from Styker Boats in British Columbia just barely "sips" gas and uses about 5% of the fuel our larger "Tuk Tuk" boat uses! The Stryker Boat will be our primary mode of transportation as well as our companion for whale watching, scuba diving, free diving, fishing, recreation, and exploration! #garden #gardening #offgrid #permaculture #backyardgarden #boat #boating

For over nearly 10 years I grew a fruit tree, permaculture, garden, and native edible plant, herb, and raised bed garden food forest. You can still watch all the garden videos of my old desert garden in Arizona. I was born in British Columbia and I have returned to the Rain Forests of British Columbia to a "Raw Land" property to grow my 1st FULL EDIBLE FOOD FOREST Off Grid on a wilderness property. This climate is temperate and coastal, rarely seeing snow in the winter and highs in the 80's (30 Celsius) in the summer. It is a rare microclimate that spans from gardening zone 7-9. The property is 8 acres and completely overgrown, mostly with conifer trees. This area is a verifiable rain forest and situated in the Southwestern-most tip of the Canadian "Great Bear Rain Forest". NicHolistic ( / holisticnicole ) and I will be learning about edible seaweeds, edible native plants, edible mushrooms, and many other edible native trees/plants as we attempt to Build a Yurt, Draw Our Energy Clean, Live Off the Grid, and Grow an Epic Superfoods Garden and Fruit Tree Orchard. We will also have a lot of changes coming so get ready. More videos and BTS Clips at my VLOG channel / adventureswjakenicole

Excellent video! A few hints that may be helpful: 1. A long shank lock thru the holes on the motor mount screws will not only deter theft but more importantly keep them from loosening from vibration and the pounding of waves to much so the motor doesn't take a swim. 2. if your going to use the kill lanyard, attach it to you. If you where to say hit a submerged log and get flipped out with it looped around your wrist you may go flying one way and the kill lanyard may go flying in the other direction and the motor wont start without it. 3. I never untie until the motor is running and warmed up. When you drift out it may not start, and with a little wind it might cause an unnecessary drama. 4. The fuel line should snap on without using the release. Listen for the click so you know that you have a good connection. I have run boats to the size of mega yachts but the most fun is to be had on the smallest ones. Red skies at night to you skipper!

Jake, when installing the outboard and tightening the screws down you’ll notice holes in both handles of each screw. Point them both inward so they point towards each other. Use a master lock and thread it in the two holes. This keeps the screws from vibrating loose during normal use. Don’t want that beauty to dip in the sea. One last thing, read up on the maintenance for salt water, it can be pretty harsh on outboards vs fresh water. Enjoying the new adventure videos.

Also make sure to break in the outboard before full throttle.

We always used a short safety line to tether the motor to our Achilles inflatable in SE AK. Yes, it saved the motor a couple of times. I know more than one person that's seen their outboard sink out of sight.

Hey Jake and Nicole. So cool that you guys got a Stryker boat. I have one and love it. I have a tip for you. I would recommend when idling your van try to get the rpms up to 1000-1100. This will prevent wet stacking. When you idle a diesel for long periods it doesn't create enough heat in the cylinder for a complete burn. Nothing good comes from that. When you have the heat on in the van you are taking away even more heat from the engine. In the summer high idle isn't required but in the winter it is recommended. I doubt your van has high idle so you can just cut a piece of wood to wedge between the front of the drivers seat and the gas pedal. This will also bring up the voltage in your alternator to help charge all your electronic devices. Obviously make sure you don't bump the transmission shifter into gear when doing this.

Oh my, your new adventure is so many things.... parts are terrifying because it's new and so different but also exciting ... for the same reasons. Nicole honey, I think you will look back some day and go "Jake, I am glad I took the lunge and did this with you." I say this from experience... ran off on an incredible adventure with my honey 20 years ago at age 50. Walked the Appalachian Trail, lived on Lake Chapala Mexico, and traveled the country in a 5th wheel for 6 years. All totally new and different. Good times. Best wishes to both of you and thanks for taking us along for the ride.

It’s hard to beat a good inflatable boat. Mine puts me in my happy place. Except for shallow rocky water. That keeps me on edge! So fun, simple, easy to store, tow and launch. We’ve got a 20 hp four stroke, and it just sips fuel. My work has a Stryker down in the Edmonton office. My personal boat I run in Yellowknife is a Mercury Adventure 340. Love zipping along to a secluded spot. Take care out there.

hey jake, one tip for your cutting board. apply some coatings of tung oil on it. it'll make clean up waaay easier, as it makes the surface waterproof, saving time and water.

Can't believe you put the motor on the transom while the boat was in the water. I'm glad it worked out. You picked a great outboard.
