I love Nisolo. Haven’t tried Organic Basics yet, but thinking about it! I’m on the fence about Everlane, truthfully. I have my eye on the company Boyish for sustainable denim. I love the feminine style of Sezane but won’t buy from them for several reasons. One of my issues is: how to you distinguish “greenwashing” from a company who says they are “actively trying to be more sustainable”? That’s what I would expect from greenwashing: a company that says for years “we’re trying!” while still charging absurdly high prices for polyester and viscose (which are absolutely NOT sustainable) and promoting consumerism. So I very, very much feel like Sezane just about fits exactly the definition of greenwashing... Great video though!

sovrappensiero1 thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!! I didn’t know Sezane has already been trying for years to move towards being green. I’m definitely going to do a bit more digging now!! Really appreciate your sharing!

Everlane and Sezane are both big time Green washing....watch Levi Hildebrand 's video on Everlane. And agree completely about Sezane using really cheap viscose materials that are not at all sustainable.

I want to love Everlane but I’m so on the fence. Any research I’ve done says that they aren’t as transparent as they say they are but there are all these KZfaqrs that support them as a sustainable and ethical brand so I just don’t know. 🤷‍♀️

If you like Sézane, you should check out the French brand, Balzac Paris, which is a sustainable brand. Their styles are similar to Sézane, classic and feminine. Their tagline- Toujours Plus Responsable (Always More Responsible) sums up their ethos perfectly. You can find lots more info on their website.

The Everlane factory may be 'clean ' in terms of water use....however they use non organic cotton ( aka GMO ) and non organic uses many, many times more water for the crops than organic cotton , not to mention the heavy use of toxic pesticides on GMO crops that are proven in the Californian courts of law to cause cancer. So unless a brand is making their jeans from organic cotton it is not 'clean'. I disagree with your 'excuse' for continuing to support and promote brands like Sezane...they have been in business for seven years and they still do not use almost any sustainable fabrics. All of their sweaters are blended with cheap ( in cost), synthetic fibres ....when it comes to sustainable materials they are not doing anything different than a fast fashion brand and that is not sustainable . So claiming they are and you promoting them as sustainable is just flat out green washing. There are several other brands that are much smaller and have been in business not nearly as long and they have been using exclusively sustainable materials since day one....and basically you said why you are willing to call them sustainable when they are not...it's all to justify buying their brand because you like the style. I feel your mentality ( and many others) of "well at least they are trying" is exactly why they don't, won't change...they don't need to because their green washing is working ...you're buying and promoting their items as sustainable when they are not...and if they are so transparent then where is the timeline on their website that tells us the steps and actions they are taking to change over to sustainable materials and get the synthetics out of their Sweaters. Guess what? I really love their style too...it's really my style and I was ( at first ) so excited to find a brand and sweaters that were what I was looking for ...but when I saw the content...I thought that's not sustainable...so I won't purchase from them. This is the entire problem with the industry...no accountability...so it is up to us ...the consumer to hold them accountable and to hold them to the higher standard in fabrics and the true definition of sustainable.

What are the young sustainable brands you speak of? Might as well she'd some light since you helped me make my decision not to shop at everlane anymore!
