Takamoto Katsuta has been a Toyota Gazoo Racings project for the last 6 years. But with his graduation to a WRC car in 2019, questions were asked about his potential. In this video, we aim to determine whether WRC's only Japanese driver, has the tools to be a future champion in the WRC

Before even watching this, I know he’s missed a couple of starts ( Keaton w the problem at home) and Dan Barrett got injured in Estonia and he had to retire, but hopefully with this new co driver, he’ll actually finish this one! But hey second in Kenya and a 4th and a 6th not too bad for him

Your facts are misleading. 2013 he won 2 races, but his teammate won 11, 2014 he finished 4th, while his new 3y younger teammate finished 2nd. Will the Valtteri Bottas become the F1 champion if he is in the same team with Hamilton? So there is your answer. But if Toyota will dominate with the new Hybrids he may even score a win one day.

Thanks for pointing out. There was no more information about it ( or we could not find) and we just wanted to mention briefly that his formula career was not so bad and he showed already some speed there. And as we understood he was also faster than some guys who currently have the mclaren driver program?

@@PowerStage Well, in motorsport being faster is always relative, if you have the fastest car in series, but you can not beat your teammate. Is Bottas faster driver than former world champions Vettel, Alonso or Räikkönen? Based on last years results he is, but Russel showed that anyone can win with Mercedes. Highly unlikely that he will be a future champ. First he must become as consistent as the recent championship podium finishers. Very likely that he will win rallies. As long as a Japanese manufacturer is in WRC, his future is assured.
