Yeah I have the long-slot 4-slice version of this. It's pretty good. The settings are consistent because I believe it runs on an actual timer rather than just a bi-metallic strip like some cheaper toasters do. My only real issue with it is that there's a bit of a "dead-zone" in the centre where there's a metal strip in front of the elements, so when you toast larger bread slices there's often an underdone strip down the middle. I'd probably still recommend it overall though.

I've had my GE toaster oven for 43.5 years and it is still one of my favorite appliances. I can toast any size slice of bread; I open buns or bagels and toast them on the tray so that only the insides toast, I can reheat frozen waffles; I can make mini pizzas, etc. It even came with a broiler pan with adjustable heights. It is multifunctional and earns its spot on my counter.

My parents were given a GE toaster in 1950 which lasted 41 years, with a couple of cord replacements my dad took care of. A lot of old school American made items still worked decades later, assuming reasonable care was taken.

Hi Lisa, in the cooking school where I taught for years, I showed my students how to clean a particularly sticky food processor blade (think hummus , pizza dough and, right on!... aioli) by returning the blade and pulsing a few times before scraping every last bit of goodness from the processor bowl. Clean up so much easier, too.

I have a Braun immersion blender since 2005 and it's still working and just as powerful. The thing is that the plastic accessories are starting to break, but the motor is still going strong. Wish I could buy just the accessories, but probably I'll have to buy a new one. I just love it. I've made tons of cream soups with it, chopped tones of veggies in its chopping accessory and mixed quite a lot of cake batter with the whisk. I'm giving it a grand funeral when it dies on me.

Forgot my favourite breakfast appliance, the panini grill. It makes better toast than a toaster: the outside of the bread is crispy while the inside stays moist (though it takes a bit longer). It´s also versatile: it can make grilled cheese, function as an electric grill for burgers or sausages, and of course make paninis. It cost me $30, and it has a permanent place on my counter.

Several years ago, I got a convection toaster oven. Great ratings from Consumer Reports, and it was only a bit over $100. Now I'm also using it as a air fryer, because I suddenly realized what they were. Hardest is finding baskets to fit the toaster oven. I'm still looking for a good basket. But I do love the new use for the most used appliance in the kitchen after the microwave.

That Braun immersion blender is great. Had one for a year or two (I think) and I'm impressed with it. It has special geometry on the shroud over the blade to make sure it really churns/mixes things up as it blends, which helps you get a more uniform consistency, and it seems to work well.

In my tiny kitchen, appliance versatility is a must. The Dash toaster is tempting but frankly, my Magic Bullet air fryer will toast bread too. My old Braun immersion still works fine and the Cuisinart chopper is still going strong with only a free blade replacement after a recall on the original one. I'm getting the immersion blender for my granddaughter to make baby food for her 6-month old. I know the baby will benefit from real food and the blender will still be in regular rotation years from now when he only wants chicken nuggets and pizza.

@@maydaygarden Just as a note: being a picky eater from 2 years to about 6 years is something we are biologically wired to do. The theory is that we are extremely hesitant to try out foods we are unfamiliar with once we are able to walk around and discover potentially hazardous food. This isn't to say there is nothing you can do to fight against it, but know that the instinct is there for a reason, and it's a hard one for a child to fight.

The personal blender is an awesome gadget for any kitchen. My favorite recipe… One medium orange (or a few pineapple chunks), half ripe banana for sweetness, 5-10 baby carrots and your favorite leafy greens. Top it up with water and blend. Banana may be substituted with 4-5 dry pitted dates. No sugar/artificial sweetener required. How do you make yours?

Braun makes really good stuff. I recently picked up a KitchenAid immersion blender for less than the Braun and I'm quite happy with it. $45? at Wal-Mart. Powerful, good shape, single larger button with a speed switch. Detent wand release rather than buttons. Cord is long enough. The cup has recently been redesigned to eliminate the separate guard. I recommend the newer design. The trickiest bit for me when pureeing soup etc is judging how much to set aside before blending so as to end up with the texture I want.

Great video. When it comes to toasters, I still recommend an oven-styled one as not only do they function as toasters, but they're much easier to clean, and you can cook things that aren't just bread in them. Furthermore, they can also do open-faced sandwiches without you needing to turn on/pre-heat your actual oven
@mgkleym

I'm honestly not a fan of toaster ovens for toast especially if you get one big enough to do some actual baking in. I have the dash toaster and the big Cuisinart toaster oven and use both all the time. The Cuisinart is great for actually cooking in or reheating leftovers but it takes too long to heat up and make toast.

@@mgkleym for cooking small portions of meals I prefer air fryers that are oven-styled. One can make all sorts of things in them. Use them as you would an oven, make toasts, sandwiches, and full meals, so incredibly versatile. And for me at least as a single individual, they're usually big enough to function as my dedicated oven so I don't need to have a full-size oven which is a huge plus for folks like me who are living in small spaces.

@@kurapikakurta3863 This is why I will look into the smaller convection ovens as they are essentially air fryers in disguise. The ONLY difference is you are simply cooking sans fat with most air fryers in a convection oven like appliance. But you can do regular bake or broil or roast if you need to as well in the same oven.
@dchall8
@dchall8 2 жыл бұрын
@@kurapikakurta3863 Agree. Our Breville toaster oven with a convection button cost more than double the $100 limit for this video, but it takes the place of an air fryer and toaster and oven. Plus Ikea makes a bamboo cutting board that fits on top of the oven so that space can be useful. I put two carpenter's pencils under the cutting board for heat and air circulation. It doesn't get that hot, though. My daughter walked in while I was toasting a cheese sandwich and said it smelled like Subway. I guess that's good?!?

I don't get cheap appliances unless I'm confident they'll be used frequently and I don't have anything that could reasonably do the same work. It's not good to buy a bunch of junk that'll end up in a landfill after 5 years. If you already have a large dependable food processor, that aioli could be made with a hand mixer or that stick blender. Toast can be made in a dry pan or under a broiler. Broilers with some babysitting create similar results to air fryers. If you have a larger blender already it's wasteful to buy a smaller blender just for smoothies.

I love the Cuisinart food chopper and have the rounded base version. I'm on my second one as my first one, the lid fell onto the floor and the lock interconnect tab on the lid broke off and no replacements for either the lid or bowl were available, so bought the essentially same style, but in red. Great for small jobs that are not big enough for the 11 Cup Cuisinart. Got the white one in I think 2006 for Christmas and have used it quite frequently since and got the red one last fall. I have the lower end Cuisinart stick blender and like it, but may consider getting a better one down the line with the detachable wand and be more comfortable to use. Picked it up at TJ Maxx a few years back, in red no less as a way to try out, and if I didn't like, I can give it to the GoodWill and not cry over it as I think I paid all of $20 for it. My toaster is the Cuisinart basic white 2 slice toaster and it's way better than the red Oster toaster that was not really reliable and finally it burnt my toast to a smokey crispy black as it would not pop up when it should. Replaced by end of day with the Cuisinart. Being all Cuisinart was mostly coincidental, BTW.

Can you please, please, PLEASE do a test on salt and pepper grinders?!?! I’ve gone through 10 or more and I still can’t find one worth it’s salt (get it)? Seriously, though. Please.

Hey I have the Braun immersion blender! I had to use it for whipped cream because I gave my kids my mixers. It worked fine, not as nice as a mixer but doable.

Not trying to be pedantic, just trying to let you know about a typo if you want to fix it: at 3:49 it has "gluting" in the CC instead of "glutting" the market for Belgian waffles. Love y'all's stuff! Thanks for everything!

Most toaster ovens (except for the super inexpensive) have convection capabilities. I don’t know why anyone would waste all the counter space for an air fryer when they could have a convection capable toaster oven that they could also use to bake pies, cakes, cookies, toast, meat, vegetables, etc.

Can you review meat grinders, and discuss their possible versatility? I have been trying to find a small, quiet, and powerful enough to handle grinding soft bone for my 2 cats and other prep. Prices range drastically and reviews are hard to rely on, sometimes contradicting manufacturer's recommendations, Thanks!!

I LOVE THAT TOASTER. I use it all the time and it's AMAZING. Little hack I do with that toaster is fold a tortilla halfway and toast it to my liking (I love charcoal coloring barely stating to happen), take it out quickly and fill with cheese close it back to half and nuke for 20-30 seconds. It is so crispy and easy! The laziest fastest tastiest quesadilla - you're welcome.

Apparently, they saw your review, because the toaster price has jumped from $36 to $48 in the 5 days since you posted.
