THANK YOU!! I bought the Raleno light panels you recommend and they are *amazing*! I am a very small KZfaqr, without much technical savvy. These lights are simple, lightweight, and easy!! I could set them up on the simple lightstands I already had, plug them in, adjust brightness & color temp with simple dials!! The video i shot in my small filming room looks great. Another cheap item used for lighting is the use of a reflector and you can get them that fold into a pouch. They come in various types like gold for a walm glow, silver for a stronger fill in< white of course and even black to give a dramatic effect. one really good thing about these is you won't run out of power. But do need a good point source of light or a North facing window as many photographers will tell you.

Thanks JB, this is just what i needed! I travel all the time so i wanted a set up that i can use if filming in a hotel room for example. I think for me, positioning myself in front of a window and using a fairly portable LED light panel to light me or my background is a great solution.

My key light is a single Mini Twister bulb in a big 27 inch round paper pendant ball thingy from Ikea. It hands from the ceiling. Hair light and background light are both Sylvania LED colored SmartBulbs that I can make any color (kinda like the Philips Hue but don’t need a hub). I have a crazy bright ring light and 2 soft boxes but I don’t use them because the I like how Ikea paper ball light diffuses. It’s simple, cheap, and perfect for my itty bitty studio.

Hi Justin, very useful video, I purchased the smaller LED Raleno light. I have figured out how to have good lighting with it in the day, however, I am struggling at night. My lightbulbs are making the room too orange, and with the lights off it's too white from the Led light. What ceiling lights should I purchase, if you were willing to email me, I can send you a picture of my room and the type of ceiling lights I have.

Do you have any tips for us spectacle wearers? I don’t have the space for a studio type setup so use any room in the house with a ring light and a couple of smaller LED panels, but am struggling with reflections of the lights (especially the ring light) in my glasses. Interesting and helpful. I'm curious what's your ISO and F stop and focal length? With the F4.5 kit lens that came with my canon sl3 I find I have to put my lights on max brightness in order to keep the ISO at or below 800? Thanks for your attention. TheXaminedLife

We are developing a whole basement in our office into a new studio for @chamberlaingroup channel we run and thinking of using the Philips Hue pots as background and some fill lights as needed... Very informative as always. Question...does lighting improve camera quality. Because often my Samsung Galaxy Ultra 22 is where I film from and in selfie video mode whether it be using Open Camera or the Camera app it comes with sometimes more often than not it comes out in poor quality?...long winded question lol

Yes, improving lighting can definitely make your videos look better. A lot of cameras struggle in low light.

What if the window you're sitting by is too strong and makes you look too white? I've even closed the blinds (which helps a little) and tried black out curtains. Also, I need a light on my desk to read textbooks as I'm on camera. Plus, the laptop in front of me adds so much white light on my face! I can't dim the screen as I need to be able to see/read off the laptop screen. I look so white...like a ghost! I wish I could zoom with you to get my lighting right!

That's the downside of using it, it can be inconsistent... best case scenario you're controlling your light so it doesn't change
