The fried clams there are excellent too, and the tartar sauce for them is the best I’ve tasted.

Kennebunkport is NOT a tourist trap!!! Hopefully you have found this out. I Summered in the 'Port for ten years in the seventies and eighties.

Huge fan of Kennebunkport! My wife's family lived there briefly and I loved visiting. I'd totally move there to retire. I think I'm a downeaster at heart.

The Clam Shack is in Kennebunk not Kennebunkport. The owners would have you think otherwise of course.

Cape Pier Chowder House on Cape Porpoise in Kennebunkport is the best seafood shack in the area … you know it’s good when the fishermen eat there

All tourists pronounce Kennebunkport wrong. It’s Kenn”e”bunkport, not Kenn”ah”bunkport. Makes myself and the other locals cringe.

You are very sadly mistaken my friend!! You need to go to the Bull And Claw down the road apiece in Wells on Rte 1! Their lobster roll will kill you it is so good!! I have pictures of these things that would scare you!! 2-foot lobster roll full of nothing but knuckle meat and all the other juicy best parts of the 3 lobsters they put in it!! I'm not a tourist but a local so I, of all people, know where to eat around here!! I was raised on this delectable stuff!! Oh, and, as Stephen King says, "Eating lobster in a restaurant is for tourists!". He is right by the way! So head to Oregon Ave in Old Orchard Beach and check out Dan the Lobsterman. He pulls them up fresh in the morning and steams them to order in his garage in time for you to take home for lunch!! We call that fast food around here! I don't want to cook dinner so I call him and say, "Hey Dan have me a few lobsters ready in about 30 minutes!" Dinner is on the table and mom is the hero of the day!! Yeah, Dan!! But if you get lazy and don't want to pick heads and tails and claws to make your own lobster roll then go to the Bull And Claw and you won't regret it!! And you were right the first time........... The Clam Shack is a tourist trap and not where we locals in the know go! So take it from some high flouting mucky mucky magazine writer or take it from a local!! The choice is yours!
