Mats for your Home Gym
Have been getting a lot of queries for the mats that I am using. Sorry for the delay to post this video.
The Mats that I use for my #homegym are from Bullrock Fitness. It was a gamble to order these in the beginning but once they arrived. I was so happy.
They really are bang for the buck.
Here are my HONEST review about the mats:
Pros:
1) Interlocking- They interlock with each other, without showing any gaps in between the mats. Interlocking is super firm which makes the whole lifting area one BIG MAT. Also making the installation super easy.
2) Suction cup design- The back of the mat has some block like design, which kind of holds the mats in place. So, mats stay well connected to the floor.
3) Made of natural rubber- Thats what the company claims. Dont know if it really matters but I think it makes the area more tidy coz they dont really smell like other cheap mats.
Cons:
I feel the mat to be a bit soft at some spots, which I have discussed in the video in detail. Although, still I had no problem squatting & deadlifting heavy.
But I think this can be improved #bullrockfitness.

@@venkatasudeep Anytime. Yup go for it blindly, you will be more than happy with the purchase and quality. But for deadlift and all those stuff crash pads are must so you can't rely on these mats for that purpose.

Hi Subodh ! As you pointed out a small drawback of softness near Plus sign , So is it a good idea to go with this Bullrock one for rubber flooring of a entire 100Sqft free weight room ?

Thanks for the video, was having same doubt as you,,, whether it would be a gamble ? But now you have clarified, thanks. Had three questions though.. 1. Did you order from Bullrock website directly ? And do they deliver at your doorstep ? 2. Over a period of time do the suction cups leave a mark /stain on the floor tiles ? 3. How easy/difficult is it to maintain it clean ? If it is used in a non AC room with open windows. Thank you in advance for your answers 😃

Thanks buddy. Regarding you doubts: 1) I was talking to a guy named Vinod on WhatsApp, have also shared his number (that i got from there Instagram)- so placed ordered on WhatsApp only, gave him my details and made the payment. They did deliver to my doorstep. 2) Suction cup doesn't leave any stain on the floor. I have tiles on floor and so far no marks like that. Just some dust spots coz my room is mostly open. 3) As i also told in the video, you just need to mop it once and it's done! Although if you step on it with dirty shoes or feet, it will leave steps mark on it. So i make sure my shoes are clean before stepping on it. Rest cleaning it is super easy. I also tend to have a non ac room and open windows ✌️ Haven't mopped it even once 😁 #beinglazy, which sure isn't recommended

No point spending on this just for bodyweight workout. You can instead go for yoga/gym mats. That would cost you barely around 200-500

Bro they are generally used for lifting. If you will only be doing jump rope on it then you can opt for some cost effective mats. Otherwise, I use them for lifting weights, stretching and jump rope also. And it's all good 😊

It doesn't slip bro and I use it for boxing also because i already have these. But if you are specifically buying for boxing purpose, better go for Eva foam mats, cheaper and recommended for boxing

Hi I do workouts like sprawls and burpees. Yoga mats are not ideal for that on my hard flooring. Are these mats good for body weight, cardio exercises? I just hope they don't slip like yoga mats

Hey man. They won't slip but for basic bodyweight workout, you can also try a bit cheaper mats like EVA form mats.

For normal protection and occasional dropping from bench height 15mm is enough. 25 mm is good for regular dropping barbell also with weights.

For basic air squats and other aerobics. You can go for basic Eva foam mats, they will also be low on cost. This mat is good for both bodyweight and weightlifting movements

anti skid yes. good for burpees & other floor workouts as well. but if you wont be using any weights on the mats and wanna use it just for bodyweight workouts then you can also look for cheaper options. Otherwise these are great

If you will be doing ONLY bodyweight movements then you can use Eva foam mats. Cheap and fine for bodyweight movements but not for weighted movements

When the mats are brand new, they do smell a bit in the beginning. Also if the room has no ventilation. Otherwise no strong smell

Bro, in that case it's better to put form mats under the rack only and squat on the floor. As eva foam mats will be spongy, not recommended for squats. Better to squat on bare floor

Just my 2 cents - Bullrock being an Indian brand is charging way too much for these mats, I personally think Bullrock is overpriced overall. These mats are only manufactured in Kottayam, Kerela in India and can be directly sourced from manufacturers there. Bullrock is probably doing the same thing and selling these on their website. You can search these in Indiamart and you'll find 3-4 suppliers (TJP Rubber, Vikas rubber etc.) and price ranges from 450-550 per 3*3 Sq.Ft mat (same ~16mm thickness). I ordered for myself Yesterday and glad Rawat did a video on these, I'm excited for them to arrive.

Thanks bro. 🙌 I agree on your point that they are quite expensive. I liked their barbell for the price but also found bumper plates expensive. Hence went for USI. Yes I know that mostly mats are manufactured in kerela and if you get the same quality from there, please share picture and let me know. Will update in my description. Others should also save some money 💰 Although whenever i tried ordering from Indiamart from kerela, they wanted a bulk order. How many have you ordered?

@@SubodhRawat If you remember we discussed their power cage in a video you shared before, I was inclined to buy that but found it way expensive for what they were offering. Same with their Squat Stand, not to take away anything from Bullrock, they are probably giving a top notch quality but they are taking too premium of a price for that. For me personally, investing in equipment that is so costly, it is hard to buy something that I have not seen and played with, which is why I explored a lot of options/dealers by physically going and then finalized a squat stand (similar to Rogue SML-2), had it customized as per my needs (I'm 6.2). Purchased dumbbells and plates from the same store. I'll receive my equipment within this week maybe, perhaps I might delay the delivery just to ensure the mats are delivered before the equipment. Let's see how it goes, I'll surely share the pictures once I set-up the stuff. Just wanted to let you know that your videos played a pivotal role in finalizing my equipment. Since I'm beginning I wasn't too sure with the Barbell, I got myself a 30mm barbel. What I read was I may not be able to lift more on deads with a thick bar, anyway, will purchase a good quality barbell once I'm deadlifting at least 150Kgs. If possible do make a video on ~28mm vs 30mm barbell, would love to hear your views on this. I ordered 15 3*3 mats and 2 20inch*20inch (will use them for deads)

Great brother! I do remember our talk over that video. The same replica of Rogue sml, bullrock is also selling. But again expensive!! The main advantage is, it comes with spotter arms plus a pull up bar. Where do you stay? Sure bro , will try to make a video on 28 bs 30, once i get my hands on a 30mm barbell. Basically, thicker bars are good for squatting as it sits well on your back. As for deadlifting you want your palm n fingers to completely hug the bar to get good grip while pulling. Wish you luck for your set up with 15 mats you seem to have a really big space to set it up. Happy lifting mate 💪

@@SubodhRawat The one I have purchased is similar to Rogue SML-2, with spotter arms, pull-up bar, J-hooks etc. And Bullrock also copied SML-2, can't blame them, as Rogue has nailed down the rack/squat design part. Hahaha, I'm covering the whole room with mats. I'm in Noida. If you're familiar with the area can you suggest a place to buy a solid multipurpose bench (should have incline, decline too). I have searched but couldn't find one of my liking. I need something similar to "bench 900" that Decathalon has.

Dont really know any dealer in Noida bro. If you can get your squat rack customized, why can't the dealer do the same for the bench. How much are they charging for that squat rack tho? And I got my bench from a local dealer, found him on Indiamart. Didn't want to spend too much on bench, so got a cheap one. If you are going for adjustable bench. Just see that in flat position the seat separation is not too much. Which I have noticed in a lot of adjustable benches out there

For 4 mats Bullrock is charging 3951 plus shipping charge of 1500. Total around 5500 for 4 mats. It’s too costly

I stay in Bangalore. I’m also checking with local manufacturers here. Moosa is charging around Rs 900 per 3*3. One more local manufacturer is charging Rs 2600 for 6*4 (24sq ft) and 17mm thicknesses. I felt the quality is quite good. 24 sq ft will be a single piece.

Yes you can do yoga in this as well and yes it is washable. But considering the cost, if you only want to do yoga in this then better go for yoga mats from Decathlon (there are a lot of options).

Everyone here. Don’t overcomplicate things. Just buy a hard, thick mattress. It is cheaper, thicker and longer lasting than any “mat”. You can drop things on them even from overhead without any damage or even any noise. Even a desi “Gadda” would do. Works especially well with dead lifts.
