For me personally I j won’t wear it because I’m not going to smell like someone’s dad or smell like someone’s 15 year old brother. It’s such a recognizable scent and in my opinion if someone compliments me saying I smell like someone else it almost an insult I guess.

Sauvage elixir is an absolute masterpiece of a fragrance. Absolutely love it. I am not the biggest fan of Angel's Share though. I find the oak to be a little too strong and piercing in the fragrance.

I don’t understand why you focused so much on the year of release thing so much. They are just saying at the year of 2022 these are the best fragrances. Doesn’t have to be released this year it’s just saying at this point in time these are the best modern fragrances

I'm thinking a "Best Released in [Current Year]" category is in order. There are times where I can't shake the feeling that these lists have some politicking going on to keep certain fragrances where they are, year after year. Besides, it'd be nice to have a list that more clearly shows what fragrances were the best (and worst) received for specific years, to keep track of trends.

FYI: They don’t include brands in “Best Niche” like Parfums de Marly, MFK, Tom Ford, Amouage, Creed etc because those brands are owned by conglomerates and therefore they don’t consider truly “niche”. If you go back to the 2020 Awards (before they implemented this rule) you’ll see those brands absolutely dominated. Top 10 from 2020: Tobacco Vanille, BR540, LDDM, Oud Wood, Aventus, Grand Soir, Layton, Portrait of a Lady, Interlude Man, Coromandel This confuses people every year, so at least now you know. 😆 P.s. Areej La Dore was founded in the UK - Russian Adam was living in the UK at the time (I don’t know if he was born there, he is of course Russian, but he went to business school there). He later moved to Thailand, Malaysia then Indonesia. It’s a bit confusing for sure. 😂 P.p.s I believe they allow fragrances from previous years so that fragrances that were released later in the year than others don’t have a disadvantage. For example, a fragrance could have been released in November which is technically 2022 but not as many people would get a chance to smell it yet, so it doesn’t stand a chance this year - meaning it’s allowed next year instead. People of course take this to extremes and sometimes stuff that was released earlier in the year is still voted on... but I believe that’s the reason.

I ordered travel sizes of blue ridge and terra nova and had a little shipping problem but the person i talked to over email was very helpful and we figured it out and my package got here very fast it was a great experience and the fragrances are amazing.

Probably the boundaries are shifted a bit, because if a fragrance, for example, comes out in Q4 of the current year while the voting is already on, how is it supposed to participate? So maybe they allow fragrances released q3 2021 - q2 2022 or so?

Sauvage Elixir is no joke, gf gifted me the big bottle for Xmas, I gave a half spray on my wrist at 1am, it is now 5:00pm next day and it's still there...gf thougt I was bs'ing her, grabbed my wrist and just said wow, not feeling ripped off now with the price 🙃

I'd only go 2 sprays max, one on the neck front and back. This will give u great projection without choking out the room. Everyone will smell it, and so far I've had many compliments in just 2 wears.

Are you in single digits bro? Where I'm at, we're having rolling blackouts every hour cuz of the overloading of the power grid. We're in single digit temperatures, and everybody is trying to stay warm. 1000's of people are freezing cuz they don't have power. I can understand Fragrantica's reasoning with regard to "Best perfume for men 2022" (it doesn't indicate 'released') as well as "Africa in Perfumes" because it's a Readers' Choice poll, therefore up to the interpretation of the consumer. It's more along the lines of fun and interesting for fragrance enthusiasts rather than something serious like a vote for world peace.

Its best perfumes of 2022 not best release as far as I am aware. Some the perfumes listed even have 2021 in their title so I'm guessing its intentional and not a slip up on their part. I see it as basically the popular fragrances that people are wearing or have gravitated towards during that year kind of deal - including 2022 releases/reformulations etc., if they are popular enough. It is inevitable that some fragrances tend to fall out of favor year to year and this ranking is perhaps just a reflection of that based on votes. Great video.

Gentlemen EDP Privé is way better than Sauvage Elixir imo Also to be fair, sometimes it takes a few years for a fragrance to really take hold in the community. Aventus didn't become the sensation that it is now the same year it was released.

I love Terre d'Hermès... in the heat. In colder days, I find it a bit sharp. I think it's possible to smell it at the wrong time. I kinda have this idea that that Africa-category is mostly there to protect them from all sorts online woke activist trolls... but I think it would have been better to leave it out. It would be better to do a fundraiser to make sure several African boys and girls from all places over the continent (it's huge with a lot of variety in biological lifeforms including humans) could go and get an education in parfumerie and chemistry. Plus set up some companies there to grow ingredients. Come on, it should not be impossible to make stuff happen for real.

The original Armani Pour Homme….it’s the GOAT. I have 1/2 a bottle left. The reformulatiion is a weak shadow of the original. Even the reformulation has been discontinued.

Yeah, i like how it smells. What I notice is , first, in the begging everybody love it then when everybody buy it then that perfumes become hated.

@@f_society9151 Sure. But by that logic Sauvage should be on that number spot. I'm not sure 1 million is among the top sellers. So compared to the sales I would think it's higher than it's supposed to. That leads me to think it's something else. I was thinking it's the packaging and branding. Just asking as I haven't been into perfumes for long and have seen 1 million once before so it just wasn't coming up as much. Maybe it's been more prevelant in the past so people came to hate it.

Stay out of the politics. All those listed for Africa are excellent, even iconic, frags but don’t have a chance against Euro houses in terms of even basic visibility.
