BEST METRO SOUND EVER!? - GVB R-net Amsterdam Alstom Metropolis M5 M6 Metro - VVVF - Train motor sound
The M5/M6 is a type of metro train from the Amsterdam metro system, operated by GVB and was build by Alstom in France in 2011 for the North / South line 52 and replacement of the M1/M2/M3(LHB) metro series, and is now used on all lines.

ALSTOM has the best trains ever!! Love the comfort and reliability of these trains! In Singapore's SMRT Circle Line, a batch of 24 driverless trains entered service in 2015 are also equipped with these traction systems and are similar to the M5s. The only difference is, these trains were assembled in Alstom's SATEE factory in Shanghai, China.

Also Alstom Metropolis 9th series for Los Teques metro, but those trains were assembled in Alstom Transport factory in Valenciennes

There’s another Alstom that has a similar motor sound to the 96 stock! Introducing the Alstom C751A which runs on the North East Line on the Singapore MRT! The only difference is that it sounds “slower”.

The traction here is Alstom OPTONIX IGBT-VVVF. Identical inverters and motors can be found on the SMRT C830C, which operates on the circle line of the Singapore MRT.

There are a few I like better, like Mitsubishi IGBT-VVVF + 6-pole IM fully enclosed squirrel-cage motor, Toyo Denki IGBT-VVVF + TDK6174/MB-5100-A, Mitsubishi IGBT-VVVF + MT75, Hitachi GTO-VVVF + squirrel-caged motor, etc.

Sorry, but I can't see any difference in the sound of this train in relation another manufactures (CAF, Rotem, Bombardier...). But I agree than it's a beautiful modern train. The best Alstom's sounds are from the fleet of Santiago's Metro System and São Paulo''s Metrô and CPTM Trains (In my opinion, sure)

If I understood correctly the Amsterdam Transport Authority wanted some shorter versions - 4-car or 3-car - trainsets of this type for more flexibility. Seeing as there are currently no metro extension projects, is this still an option for when the 'sneltram' rolling stock is going to be replaced?

It's odd that these M7 have the same exterior and interior looks of the M5/M6 but are built by CAF instead of Alstom? It's like asking Apple to develop a phone that's a copy of Samsung's Galaxy. Is there a reason why for this switch? Besides price?

I also find that very odd, i have no idea, i only know they wanted shorter metro's with the same look. Maybe because they also ordered trams from CAF in the same period..., so i guess price,,,,

Regardless of if we like them, train manufacturers are trying to eliminate such wonderful sounds...and for what..a couple decibels lower , apparently it irriates people, id argue most people are just greatful to go home lmao, i dont think a train producing some noise os a bad thing, qs long as its not stupidly loud. Id rather be on a train that makes some adidiable traction as opposed to a boring ride with nothing but silence.

Aaahh the famous Alstom GTO with stages like a gearbox at the start...Another metro in seoul (the Seoul metro 4000 series and 7000-8000 series and Pusan metro Serie 2000 before updating) use a "gearbox" Alstom GTO VVVF

Sound okay, unless you're a beagle. What I would dislike is that ALL seats face sideways. I suppose it's not as bad as here, where there are so many hills that people slide back and forth. (And I do notice you have armrests to minimize that.)
