Not precisely. Kozaburo the man who forged Wado Ichimonji and Enma is cousins with Zoro's grandmother Furiko. Those two are also cousins with Yasuie aka Tonoyasu. Furiko is Ushimaru's big sister and Onimaru's master. So the Shimotsuki clan being the most distinguished clan in Wano is rather large. Even Shimotsuki village in East Blue had two Shimotsuki cousins as founders. 3rd cousin is the absolute closest that Zoro and Kuina could be related. Oda's family tree places Kozaburo and Furiko's parents within the many generations between them and Ryuma. It could actually be further depending on what Furiko and Kozaburo's cousin level is.

The whole theory that Oda retconned Pell’s death due to concerns over 9/11 is completely unfounded, and doesn’t even make sense when you look at the timing of the chapter releases for both the Bomb/retcon. This idea has been thoroughly debunked by many other people and nobody has found a single shred of evidence that Oda ever said this was the case. Oda did even draw commemorative artwork for the victims of 9/11 TOTALLY separate from these chapters, so clearly discussing the tragedy wasn’t something the editors or publishers were shy about This was just one of the first of MANY cases of Oda backtracking on an otherwise earned character death, something which he would go on to do like another 5 times 😂 Look at Higuram, Oda backed out on his death right around the same time and it wasn’t because he was trying to not upset some victims of a coastline disaster 😅 granted that one makes sense when you consider Robin was never really evil, but the destructive power of that explosion stretched out like half a kilometer from every edge of Higuram’s ship, you can’t even rationalize it with a “oh maybe he got out of the way of the explosion”

Yes, I can’t ONE HUNDRED percent prove he didnt write it because of 9/11, but the evidence is so overwhelmingly to the contrary that it can be discarded without much consideration, and Oda never said it, so I don’t need to prove that it isn’t true, that burden to prove it is true is entirely on you and anybody else sharing the theory. Only positive truth claims require supporting evidence, and I have much less problem with the theory itself and more with when people claim theories like this are true as though theyre gospel that Oda 100% confirmed himself to be true when it’s nothing more than just an unfounded fan theory with MUCH more evidence against it than for it...which is exactly what you did. You’re straight up acting in your first comment like this shit was confirmed and you’re telling people this was* the reason. Just the chapter of Pell’s death was published published over a whole month after 9/11, it wasn’t “right around 9/11” as much as you’re saying. Oda had already released an entire statement and commemorative illustration for the victims long before Pell even died. There was no point in retroactively changing just this one detail that wouldn’t even come up until an even later chapter if the 9/11 parallel was really such a touchy subject. The idea that his death needed to be avoided to prevent alluding to some real world tragedy (when his death didn’t even really bear that much similarity to it, and bringing him back changes nothing about the potential controversy of having a chapter depict a supposedly “9/11 like scene”) it just doesn’t line up with the timing of any of these chapters or when Pell’s death was undone. If anything was to be changed so long after the fact, don’t you think the whole Alabasta climax would have been fundamentally different? Why have these loose parallels that can be somewhat construed as 9/11 references if you’re going to just need to pussy foot out of it? And no, an “eagle” “nuking” himself in the “desert” is not that striking or suspiciously similar to the World Trade Center attacks (and even if it was, Pell doesn’t even have the Eagle Fruit, it’s the Falcon fruit, so the parallel is even shakier). 9/11 was caused by planes that crashed into towers, and Pell blew up a bomb that was planted in a tower thousands of feet in the air to prevent the tower from being blown up. So...Pell’s death in itself ALREADY did the job of preventing the potential 9/11 parallel of a tower being destroyed, bringing him back weeks later in publishing time does literally nothing to change the potentially problematic nature of that scene or how much it alludes to 9/11, which is the whole reason people claim why Oda needed to do this. “Oh but it happens in a desert and the guys who did 9/11 were from a desert I swear it’s SO much like 9/11” Again, if you want to believe this theory, then go right ahead. That’s your prerogative. Just be honest that it’s a theory when you repeat it to people. Don’t feel the need to lie and pretend like the author confirmed it just so people will believe it.
