If you're a beginner rider and have questions about how challenging these trails were (from one beginner to another!) let me know 👍I'm here to give a beginner's perspective to help other new riders conquer more trails!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I can't wait to go back and ride everything I didn't have time for on that trip! If you have time, Falcon Flow was pretty sweet too 👍

Great video. Thanks! In all my trips to Moab, I've missed a fair amount of good riding areas (just kept going back to the stuff I love). Klondike Bluffs is one of the areas. Silly me! Will have to get out there and other places next trip. But taking someone to Moab who's never been on a mountain bike before is NOT a very good idea. Moab surprises experienced "mountain bikers" with its challenging terrain, non-stop rock gardens, and unreal topography. Vertical exposure, desert conditions, unrelenting sun and so many other factors make it a very challenging place to ride and adventure. 6:20 is an excellent example: rider not in what NICA coaches call "ready position." You really don't want to be in the saddle whenever going over rough terrain (or jumping). It's setting you up for disaster. Weighting level pedals, and hovering over the saddle with bent knees and elbows is a very basic skill one learns early riding bikes as a kid. If you don't know it as an adult, you may experience less than ideal results! (crashing, slamming your stem, going over the bars, etc.) If you haven't been on a mountain bike before, don't make Moab your first time! Get out well before your trip. Hit the dirt and learn about the sport and your bike well before you find yourself in way over your head in Moab. Take a class or bone up on all the great KZfaq content out there. There's TONS of info. out there for the taking, so take advantage. And if you don't get the chance, then stick to the many bike paths in the area. Or venture onto the 2wd roads that are everywhere. You can still get out and enjoy the area. I will add, however, that today's 29" full suspension bikes are REALLY user friendly. So much better than the hard tails of 20 to 30 years ago. So you have that advantage; just learn some basic skills and get some fitness so you can really enjoy what Moab and the desert southwest have to offer!

That’s a nice video, thank you! I’m heading to Moab this august, do you need to climb a lot for those blue trails? 👍

Thanks! Baby Steps is the blue trail that connects all the other good trails we hit...but it's all super rocky climbing. I walked almost all of it, but it was still worth it to hit Alaska and Homer on the way down! Little Salty would also be a great choice, it's just in a different direction once you get to the top of Baby Steps. Hope you enjoy, Moab is sweet! I'll be posting more videos from Moab soon!

How do you recommend riding this trail system? Dino to baby steps to mega steps to Alaska maybe?

This is the route I took and I thought it was pretty good! The only part I didn't enjoy was Baby Steps...it's all very rocky climbing. Mega Steps has some fun downhill sections but wasn't as challenging as I thought for a black diamond (according to Trailforks). But Alaska and Homer were definitely worth it! I've heard Little Salty is also a lot of fun, it's just the opposite direction from Mega Steps.

What was the name of the campground?

I stayed in a fully set up RV at the OK RV campground, it's pretty much centrally located to all the best riding in Moab. Highly recommended! A note on visiting Klondike if you're thinking about going: Klondike Bluffs is located right off Highway 191...the entrance is actually kinda hard to spot (I passed it the first time and had to make a u-turn across a 4 lane highway lol). If you don't have it already I would definitely recommend downloading the Trailforks app. Then you can navigate directly to the parking lot and make sure you don't get lost 👍
