If you are going gray or completely gray Henna is a safe all natural alternative when done correctly.
You can use colors that are similar to your natural hair color with added natural tints like beets, coffee, and different teas for highlights. For those of you who wish to try alternatives that are natural, henna is the way to go, BUT do your research. There are a ton of fakes out there. I discovered how to do this from a friend in India many years ago. I attempted after doing the research :)

Materials:
Henna (I used Medium Brown by Light Mountain) EWG Approved :)
Organic AMLA powder
Tea (I used English Breakfast, Elderberry, and a mixed fruit tea for extra red tinted highlights)
Organic Coconut milk (I used Trader Joes)
Glass bowl
Wooden chopstick to stir (or any wooden spoon)

Appreciated the disclaimer at the beginning :) You can use beet powder instead of fresh beets, also hibiscus powder or tea is nice for red tones. I am a huge fan of Light Mountain henna, been a loyal user of their red, bright red and light red hennas for over 25 years now! I don't use the color the gray series, just the plain boxes of the colors I mentioned. My hair is half grey underneath the henna, but with the henna I get a natural red color.

The result looks great, exactly the color I wanted. So how often do you dye your hair? How long does henna last? Of course, the hair growth time differs for everyone, but I wonder how long the color stays?

That s beautiful!i ve tried blonde henna cause i m blonde but my gray in the front is still gray i think i ll give up!i m sure it s my hair they re difficult i ve tried perm 4 times in different salon but they stayed straight and the dye didn t cover the gray!kisses from Greece!

Thank you for watching and I love it ❤️ wow from Greece! Sending big hugs to you. Yes it sounds like you may need to go a shade darker w henna. It’s an enhancer so blonde henna on blonde hair won’t really have the best results I would think. If you were to use a light brown or a darker shade of the blonde it may actually color it. It’s also okay to embrace the gray too. ☺️ I’ll do some research and see if maybe there is an alternative for you. Thank you for making me smile 🙏

I use henna on my hair. Please use pure henna powder, you can change the orange color of henna by mixing tea (dark brown) or coffee (coffee brown) or beetroot for dark red color. If you use indigo after henna, you can get black hair.

I tried brown and it didnt cover it!the rest of the hair was ok until the next day that i took a bath!my sister in law uses the same henna and it covers everything!but she has thin hair.Thank you for answering me you re so sweet!

Hi thank you so much for your comment and questions and thank you so much for watching! I don’t measure much because different henna requires different measurements, but here is a good rule of thumb that I think you’ll like - Amla about 2 tablespoons - tea and coffee I mix together to get the desired color I want and then I add it to the henna - about 1 cup to each package of henna powder - and if I want a stronger highlight- i mix a stronger color first before adding to the henna. I hope that makes sense - let me know if that doesn’t help

Hello, can I ask a question? I want the red color. What are the materials that are added with henna, how much, and does it need fermentation after kneading it and how long does it remain on the hair for the hair color to become red?

Hi of course and thank you for watching! :-) I mix my henna to get rid of the bubbles (w out metal by the way) for a good few minutes - the consistency and thickness should be like a pudding or a yogurt. There are many different shades of red and you can use beets like I did you can use teas like I did and you can buy good pure henna as it already by itself is red in color (Lawsonia Inermis). How long depends on your hair texture and color - I typically have it on my hair for about 3 hours total. My video does mention some of the details as well. :-) let me know how it turns out!

Hi! Thanks so much for watching- yes if you want the highlights a light brown I’d go with honey bush teas or a light coffee mixed e chamomile. It also depends on your natural hair color :-) and you can buy a light brown henna too. Just try and get organic when you can. I will have more soon. Take care!

Too many ingredients and about coconut milk, if you have fine low porosity hair it’s cold be disaster. Did it once and it was nightmare to rinse out henna, my beautiful hair was like a straw, I was in shock, took me week to resolve this disaster.
