Nefarious. That´s the best horror from 2023 so far for me. Some might see it as a drama/thriller thing though. Great acting. "No one will save you" was also really great and great cinematograpy and plot too.

I just can’t imagine anything better than than Liv Tyler and the original The Strangers. Even in the trailer, they had the Stranger purposefully walk past the camera when the girl had her back turned; where in the original, you had to find him yourself, blending into the kitchen area. That made it so much scarier, imo.

Two scenes shocked me in the movie "When Evil Lurks". First was the scene with the dog inside the house and the other was the mother holding her son and walking at night. It didn't scare me but for at least a minute my mouth dropped and was in total disbelief.

hard disagree, Christmas is heavily rooted in Paganism and there's plenty of material there to work with. Most of the time they just default to shlocky horror comedy cheese and it's boring.

Night of the Hunted was SO intense. Completely edge of your seat. Pretty predictable, but what a ride! The Pond looks great. Where Evil Lurks was my favorite horror of this year. Might be too intense for the casual viewer, but for horror fans who like realistic fx and a sense of dread instead of jump scares.... Suitable Flesh's original story was fantastic. I'll give it a chance. The Jester just looks like a knock off of Black Phone Something in the Barn / It's a Wonderful Knife - I love Christmas Horror but these just look too cheesy. However, SITB does look to be more fun. Great list. Thank you!

I agree with you but strongly recommend you giving When Evil Lurks. I think you’ll be surprised. But yes, for the most part…they come out with so much crap these days. Many studios are just lazy af. Churn out crap horror movies with either ZERO idea what they were thinking, Skinamarink anyone?? or just so full of plot holes it’s almost insulting to your intelligence. Another horror strategy is when they try to be so damn edgy and leave the movie just beyond insanely understandable. I shouldn’t have to THINK or go on Reddit after watching a movie to have people, explain to me wha5 the fuck the movie was trying to say. But When Evil Lurks? It’s like HP Lovecraft meets John Carpenter. It really is a solid horror movie. And the beauty is it didn’t come out of Hollywood…which I honestly think is a shithole now. Too much woke and to manny sequels and remakes cuz they too damn lazy to think up new shit. Give it a chance!

What is the 3rd movie? There is no title, nothing happens except someone knocking on the door, and then it's on to the next preview. There isn't much to watch, from seeing these previews, and the second to last movie, Soulmates, is just another version of Saw. Why can't Hollywood come up with new ideas?
