So I have a question about replacing the standard battery/buying a second or spare battery for Sony handycams as mine is OLD !!! Do you recommend a particular brand for replacement battery or stick to Sony original items? I personally LOVE my new PHASM camera from GhostStop as it does Full spectrum as well and is so light and just Brilliant so far 🤩

Do you also own a Sony with night shot? Sony always the best battery to get as they last longer and have true % the non brands charge and say there 4hrs for example and only last 1hr. I have some non brands as they came with a charging kit free. Also ive been looking at BOBLOV M5 2K Body Camera for smaller action cam style

With nightshot? If so I’d only ever recommend a Sony but this I believe was there last model and not all there models include it. My other older one is a hdr cx700. I’ve heard some Panasonics also offer a night mode but I’ve never used one so can’t say for sure. What I do know though is the 20 to 40 ish pound ones with unknown brands are terrible

I just bought a Sony Handycam HDR-CX550V, I'll let you know how well it works (It'll take to weeks two ship to me)! I paid 140$ for it.

Ive only ever used sony for night vision, I think they were the first handy cam to have an official IR mode called "night shot" there's also so many features not included with HC-VX870. There's a review by Avp studios for that cam on yt with many details. That ir hot shoe is very good

Norm not, I have used stuff before but when I’m on the fly filming the sound is all from that camera which I use for all my videos alongside a Sony a72 and an older cx700

Well it can but obv it will look all green also the ir built in only has so much reach I find the latest iPhone is real good for the sky at night

Erm it will see the sky but obv the zoom may be the issue and cause pixelisation my iPhone prob better for this sort of thing

The charger cable that comes with it can be plugged in and can record whilst plugged in it is not a usb charger

@@HauntedTheTruth thanks for responding! I assume the charging cable it comes with is a standard plug and record. But it doesn't sound like you can take a micro USB cord and plug it to the camera and then to a USB battery pack and charge and record.

@@wrightistheidiot bare in mind if it’s not the same night cam it may work but not be as effective. Only ever used with Sony but seen a few non branded ones online where people blaming the light when really the tech is the issue in the camera itself

No. Not really needed though esp if the enhanced IR with it. Course a normal torch can be used if you wished. But the camera alone can see in pitch black the add ons just increase how far

Unfortunately for me it was too late since Malaysia there's too many people who doing PROP Paranormal and they declare it as real Paranormal. Sad issues...

As a owner of this camera I actually don’t recommend this model. The floating focusing lens is known for getting damaged easily and will become stuck when focusing and will go off center.

Not used one myself. Picked Sony as I head they had the rights to nightspot mode and had the best for that function and all the others were. I will need todo digging
