Nonverbal autism can be very challenging for autistic people and their carers. Here are some of the best apps to help a nonverbal child.
Autism nonverbal is a condition as part of an autism spectrum disorder that some but not all autistic people experience.
Some autistic people actually learn language and speech later on in life that are non verbal as children
Nonverbal Autism speaking can be so difficult because you still need to communicate with your left one or caretaking person and this can be a challenge this is why I’ve created this list of apps that will help everyone.
Autism apps are super helpful for people on the autism spectrum as they give a voice and platform to the individual that otherwise they would’t be able to contribute.

Snap + Core First is 1/5 the price of Proloque and just as complete of a communication app. Highly recommend. Have also used GoTalk Now in the past. It’s pretty good but not as complete. JABtalk is pretty good for Android.

I second Snap + Core First. I’ve used both that and Proloque at my local autism center. While I prefer Proloque over everything else, it is expensive, and Snap is just about as good and far cheaper.

I have autism. I usually struggle talking to people, specially strangers. I get extremely anxious and uncomfortable I can't drag the words out... Is very inconvenient since it happens all the time, even with some friends. This is very handy, thank you so much!

Hi Dan. My name is Brittany. I am an autistic young woman. I have aspergers and sensory processing disorder. I can become non verbal when im very stressed and so I always keep a few different AAC apps on all my electronic devices so that i have options and choice if i am non verbal temporarily and need to communicate. some times i wont be non verbal but will play around with the apps. they are quite fun. I love your channel and i make videos too! Mine are about books and also autism/aspergers related content as well. thank you for this wonderful channel! I would love to see a video on communication devices, and cases for those devices. and which ones you would reccomend and why. thanks for reading my comment.

I’m working to become a mental health professional/social worker, but I also have cousins with ASD who are verbal. I do know that individuals with ASD sometimes find it easier to communicate using apps even if they are verbal, so I was curious!

Proloquo is,aweso.e for learning to speak! My child often can speak a word that she learned to use on Proloquo a week before! Her vocabulary is exploding!

Twice per year ProLoQuo2 is 1/2 off! In April during Autism awareness month, then again I believe in October. My 4yo uses this AAC program very well.

An important point is that autistic people who were never entirely non-verbal can veer towards brief or lengthy episodes of being non-verbal. As an example, I had a co-worker yesterday pressing me to answer his questions and I just didn't have the spoons then to answer verbally.

100%. My mum was telling me about the verbal autistic son of a friend of hers and there are are periods where he just doesn't speak. Apparently he hasn't spoken to his mum in 2 months. I couldn't imagine not speaking for that long; i'm the opposite of non verbam I'm super verbal

I just turned 18 so im finally able to look for an official autism diagnosis and while i guess i fall more towards "high functioning" i think im just a better masker because i have a lot of needs despite being seen as "smart", i have verbal capabilities but sometimes when im depressed or anxious or scared or in pain i cant actually talk even if i want or need to, even when i get excited i have trouble so i started looking into cards/apps and asl for my non-speaking moments

My son is partially verbal, he can tell you in a word or 2 what he wants but couldn't make a full sentence. At his school they use PODD ( not an app it's a book thing). Do you have any apps to help progress language or speech?

This is probably much later than you expected a comment, but I am very probably on the spectrum, as is my partner and our son, and as was my father, all suspected. I do have an ADHD diagnosis and am weighing up whether there's any point in getting assessed for autism. I don't want to use up NHS resources irresponsibly so I'm not sure. I think it would be good to know either way.

I'm a parent of a 9yo boy that has autism and is non verbal. I have been looking for a communication device for him. However alot of them seem very American centric, us being scottish and as far away from American english as you can get this is not helful for us. Watching your video in hopes that I might find one that will be useful for him to have a voice. People don't realise that some non verbal people may understand more than mets the eye. My hope is that he can finally express himself for everyone to understand him when he needs them to. Pec to speech would be very helpful 🤞

Hi Dan, parent here. My 27 year old non-speaking son likes his reading program but he'd love to learn how to type. He's DS/ASD, flaccid fingers, so fine motor skills are a struggle.
