I don't blame them for not pushing these beasts to the limit. They are collectors items. Once wrapped around a tree it's just a piece of scrap. If I was an owner of one of these with all those negative comments about the driving or being a sissy, i would retire it to my living room for my own pleasure. Then you guys wouldn't hear or see a legend in action anymore!!!

Unbelievable, someone actually mentioned Michele :)! It's sad how people usually only tend to name Walter, and I mean every driver from the group b years are great drivers, but I think Michele is one of those who deserve to be named a bit more :)!

@Scouterlad the problem is not the driver, but the spare parts. they don't make race spec parts and there is a limited number of them. the engines are limited to 400bhp for conserving the engines. this classic rally is not for breaking records, and showing people that they can keep with modern day rally cars, is just to show people what attracted people in past to rally, the noise, the feel the excitment.

@topmik123 this is a museum piece almost and they are very valuable.. can't expect to drift the corners with 180km/h anymore with one of them.

@jerky18 S1 doesn't have a blow-off as far as i know. the sound you hear is turbo flutter. i've seen a lot of pictures of the engine and no blow off anywhere ;)

the power starts off mellow,then a second or two later it charges hard,that's turbo lag,a smaller turbo with more boost would help this problem.

sweet, though I'm pretty sure these cars are not at full power and not driven full tilt like they were decades ago.

Well , if you crash the car it is fatal . There are nearly no spareparts for such car´s available . These cars are to valuable to ruin them on the track . Some guy´s simply dont understand this . All the cars in this vid are cars with racehistory . And by the way Wolf-Dieter Ihles car ( S1 S-0720 ) is sometimes driven by walter Röhrl , also in this video .
