Whoever designed Discord deserves an award. He’s something like a Cryptid. An enigma of a creature in appearance and in personality. Even when he gave up being a villain, you can still expect some sort of mischief whenever he’s around. I love the visual gags with him too.

I just love how Discord's entire character is a homage to Q. The flashes and all. And even the little things like him eating a stack of paper being a reference to "eat any good books lately?" And his ability still to create entire pocket dimensions for the characters!

They even include a good star trek joke in the 9th season. Granny Smith wakes up and starts talking about the dream she just had. she was on an adventure in outer space on a ship and GrandPear was there talking about bolding going where no pony had gone before (GrandPear is voiced by William shattner) and "then Discord showed up... and he pretty much just acted the same as usual."

Something I noticed rewatching some clips: Both Discord and Fluttershy are immune to each other. When Discord tried to trick Fluttershy in the labyrinth, she didn't fall for it and thought those were three normal butterflies who were being honest with her, she didn't even take it as insults or offences. She was so naive and kind to him that not even Discord could trick her and had to turn her mean manually. And that angered him, not even his manipulation skills could turn her evil, he had to do it through magic. Then, when Fluttershy uses the stare in him, it's pointless. It doesn't work at all on him, he even pretends that it does only to mock her after. Now, that stare, f*cking freed her from being turned to stone once, she always used it and it always worked, but Discord was the first beast and creature that couldn't be effected by it, and you can see that this also confused her cause it was the first time this happened. I swear they're made for each other-

You forgot 2 good scenes from where and back again 1. When they tell discord they took flutter shy and he goes "WHERE" with the eyes 2. and when they arrive at the changling hive and he picks up a rock and looks confused

I love the first scene you mentioned because it’s the one and only time he gets visibly angry and becomes genuinely scary for a few seconds. I live for normally OP characters being goofy and only flipping the switch when times are dire (in their eyes). It’s my bread and butter

Discord is by far the greatest anti-hero character of entire My Little Pony franchise. While he is undoubtedly not a villain anymore and has redeemed himself numerous times, he has never fully become a good guy either. He is more on side of good guys now for only two reasons. First of all, of course, is his genuine affection for Fluttershy, which constantly gets him in totally awkward position whenever his old self tries to come out again. If it wasn't for Fluttershy being only one willing to give him another chance in the first place, he would have still been an villain. Second of all, he has wierd, but persistent, highely reluctant respect for Mane Six, especially Twilight Sparkle, whom he considers, again reluctantly, as the only pony who is his equal. Only three former villains who have turned completely to the good side are Princess Luna, Starlight Glimmer and Trixie. Although, it can be debatable if Trixie was ever a true villain to begin with. Sure she was mean and obnoxious and bad to everybody. However, I always saw her as more of a bully then a real villain. She did try to become major villain at one point, but we all know how that turned out.

As a kid RD was my favorite character, but as I watched the series and eventually finished it, I realized who the real OG was. First of all, he’s literally and metaphorically the audience watching the show. Second of all, he’s the most powerful being in the entire show. He’s a chaos god after all. A lot of the resolves of episodes from season 4 onwards, he had a hand in. If he hadn’t insulted Twilight when she got sent home by the gang in the episode where the tree of harmony was growing out of control, they would’ve never saved equestria. On top of all this, idc what other fandom dwellers say; he’s funny af and STAYS funny af throughout the whole series. Discord for life. 🔥

I love how in My little pony the villains who changed are still good characters (well, actually that's my opinion) That makes me think of the Dazzlings as well, they can't and don't get magic from hate anymore and even did vocal processing to continue singing without the necklaces! Their personalities are still the same, and that's beautiful! Same for Discord, or better, ESPECIALLY Discord. Like bro even though he's not evil anymore, his personality didn't change, and that makes me a simp💀 But he needed a friend as well, and now he has tons

Discord is what made me a brony. Also the fan music and just the show being genuinely good. Granted imo the last 2 seasons got very poor, but the early 4 seasons are amazing.
