Well, it wasn’t in his interest for Los Pollos Hermanos employees to die. Therefore, he should employ them / protect them. Otherwise we would see the frier’s head on a tortoise shell if it meant for Gus a step closer to killing the cartel.

That scene when his Assistant Manager detailed the fryer, and Gustavo came out looked at it, then looked at him and said, "If you think it is clean enough, and are happy with your results, than have a good night I will see you tomorrow." Then just walked back to his office. The kid pulled the entire unit out of it's housing and was scrubbing the hell out of it! Once any manager has it to where they can just look mildly disappointed, and that look drives your employees to panic that you aren't happy, and immediatly go back to get it fixed so you are happy... Well at that point you have made it. You can just sit there and drink coffee all day, your team is complete! Gave me a flashback of telling my father I had finished with the grass and him saying "If you are happy with the job you did, then I am..... I TRUST YOU". The guilt would drive me mad, so there I went back out the door to the lawnmower.

I wish I could erase _Breaking Bad_ from memory and watch it all over again. When Jesse arrived at Los Pollos and sat with Walt and this nerdy guy whom I assumed was duty manager approached them with the "Is everything to your satisfaction?", I _didn't_ realize it was him the pair thought they were meeting. Later, when Walt has returned and sits alone, and Fring stiffly turns to regard Walt in the window's reflection as Walt stares outside, and their relfection's eyes lock, _oh,_ to relive _that_ moment again!

Gus Fring is one of my all-time favorite characters from any TV show, movie or book. He was absolutely terrifyin, and Esposito just crushed it with his ever nuance, facial expression... he controlled the time and milked as much gut-wrenching tension as he could from each moment. He's also a terrifying example of Jungian Archetypes and examining man as a mask he wears for the world, compared to the man he is beneath it. I skipped out on Better Call Saul (stopped watching after season 1). Looks like I need to catch up for more of Fring's back story. Terrifying and tremendous character.

Gus Fring is probably the most genius written character I've ever seen in a TV show. Gus, in a way, is the living embodiment on what and how the United States society operates. While someone like Tuco represents more of what a brutal dictatorship would look like in a nutshell, Gus displays more of what a Neoliberal, "democratic", corporate societal mindset would represent. He is way more formal, classy, by the rules, and actively goes against the impulsivity of someone like Tuco. All of his actions are strategically planned for a guaranteed outcome to benefit him. What's important about this is that Gus may seem like he's a much better person to be friends/coworkers with (on the outside), but on the inside lies a brutal psycopath who is just as bad, if not worse, than someone like Tuco. He literally killed Victor with a box cutter in front of Walt, Jesse, and Mike, in such a savage, but also somehow collective way. That directly relates to Tuco brutally punching one of his henchman to death, just because he said something Tuco didn't like. Their end results as people are exactly the same. They have the same brutal character outcome, but have a different approach in how they express themselves as people, while also operating large drug empires differently. I also just want to add that I am in no way comparing a full blown authoritarian dictatorship to the U.S. Government. However, I can't ignore the way Vince wrote these characters to resemble those spectrums in society, and how connected they can be in terms of overall outcome. It really leads me to question how beneficial the United States Government really is to its people. I might be analyzing this too much tho idk.

The end results don't matter as much as the motivations though. Gus killed his employee because he was spotted at the scene of a crime and he didn't want his own cover to be blown, Tuco killed a guy in a roid-rage for trying to do his job (kinda).
