Idk. Most lights have a two second pause between one direction turning red and the other turning green, and people still blast through the wrong way 2-3 seconds after the green light, which is 4-5 seconds for them after the red. When the light turns green and you look to left and see a car a bit away, you won't be expecting it to act like the light is green for him.

@st4rgrl. My guess is this. He has a wool hat on that he looks like is pulled a tad over his ears, which already masks a lot of noise, and there isn't much noise to make when you're skidding through snow covered grass (I live in Minnesota, and I can assure you it is significantly quieter than screeching tires on pavement, especially if the snow is powdery). They're also next to the highway when a couple semi trucks are going by, so the sound of the sliding truck was probably masked by the semis until it got too close. There's no audio to go off of, so I couldn't say for sure why he didn't hear it right away, but that's my take

It takes a while to slow a truck like that down and you wan't to watch for traffic (even though he wasn't before as he caused the accident). In any case, he's on camera and was definitely caught if he drove off. Edit: watching it over, it’s really an absurd accident. I work as a pilot/escort and it blows my mind how stupid some people are. Just last night, lead pilot turned left onto a road, the truck was cleared to come through, I followed him, and the lights changed shortly after. So rather than waiting literally 30 seconds for us to clear the intersection, a moron floors his BMW suv, jams on his brakes and blasts his horn at us. Ok, and? You can see us, we all have big flashing lights, it’s obvious where we are going, so you can either go into lane 3, wait until we are clear and go behind us, or act like a moron and try and drive through a 40 tonne load and still wait until we’re clear. I lived in the neighborhood to the immediate left (you can kind of see the drive in to the left) for four years and this would happen at least once a week. There was a light further up the road and people would drive all the way up the double turn lane to pass traffic if they were eventually going to be turning left at the light. It was deadly (I think you can also see the two crosses in the top left corner in the field - one is white, one is maroon). I do not miss this road!!

Watching videos like these has taught me three things: 1) far too many people out there are not in complete control of their vehicle (speeding and losing control, distracted driving); 2) it is surprising how many people cluelessly turn into oncoming traffic; and, 3) it is distressing how many creeps try to make a run for it so they don't face the consequences of their actions/inactions.
@annehaight9963
@annehaight9963 Жыл бұрын
Things that stand out to me in videos like this: 1) do not drive in someone else's blind spot, and do not let someone drive in yours, 2) don't cross over lanes when you can't see oncoming traffic, 3) if someone else reacts, you should assume they see something you don't, and slow or stop until you can see what's going on, 4) don't tailgate. I drive professionally, and I have avoided many accidents by simply assuming that people will do the dumbest possible thing in all situations. Sometimes I am right, and I react without hesitation because I have mentally reviewed what I would do in such a situation.
