K-dramas have lost their appeal nowadays cause they only care about money and trending on platforms like Netflix.... an unpopular opinion from someone who has followed J dramas and movies - Squid game was very basic the plot has been used so many times in Japan it is not even original. This shows that anything can become popular if marketed properly.
