Laconia Is hands down the best rally east of the Mississippi. Our same group does the 366 mile ride up every year.

Laconia is more scenic.. I wouldn't mind riding there, but about 2100 miles away... Can't take that much time away from work. Daytona maybe 1 day... Lone Star Rally I don't miss been going for years. Yes been to Sturgis!

Next year in 2925, you need to go to the "Blessing of the Bikes" in Baldwin, Michigan! Thursday - Sunday, 15,000+ bikes every year, with venders too!

I've been going there for years back to 1970's, and the Road Racing at Loudon, NH. Later we hit New England Dragway in Epping, NH for the Drag Races. We packed my Van with the two bikes and headed up from NYC. I was invited to ride "Jim Karata Enterprises" top fuel bike but didn't what to close my Bike Shop to race. His bike was one of the 1st to break high 6.90's in a quarter with a reverse Kaw 4 cylinder head with a blower. His shop is in Conshohocken, PA. and made a trip to see him once over a weekend years ago.

60yrs ago when I was a kid in Southern Vt. the motos on their way to Laconia would come through town on Rte. 9 and we would watch them go by. Never made it to the event though as I ended up more into dirt biking.

in 1997 I was there for the rally and it was packed. weather is always a crap shoot at best, when its not raining absolute gorgeous. best ride was the kancamagus highway and really liked lost river road. Lincoln NH was the place , has it all. Rode out on a 80 ci.1978 FLH full dresser that I still own today.

Surprised you didn't go to the Track, During Bike Week there are AMA Styles races at NH international speedway where NASCAR races there are vintage Races, AMA style Super Bike, and this year the Racing Baggers, and over in Epping motorcycle Cycle Drags at New England Dragway (ps it's 10 days) then you missed the Gunstock Hill Climbs. I worked for Harley for over 40 years at dealerships including Myrtle Beach and Black Hills and Daytona so i've been to them all, but Laconia is my home rally, i live on the NH Seacoast and i've been going to Laconia since the 80s

The problem with the lack of motorcycles taking mainstream in the USA isn't the motorcycles, it's the dregs riding the motorcycles and getting on media. Don't know how many more decades this stuff has to play out before people collectively decide it's not good for the industry as a whole: tats, mostly-naked women, piercings, booze, cigs, pirate regalia, sleazy rock shows, and movies playing at Hollywood featuring motorcycle gangs causing other gangs a lot of violence and harm. Honda once portrayed an advertising campaign in the USA that was quite counter-cultural: "You meet the nicest people on a motorcycle." Seems like all too often, I'm supposed to believe the nicest people (at first glance) are plastered in tats, piercings, holding a beer, gyrating their naked booty, and gang-signing to rock music.

I love seeing thousands of drunk, beer bellied men with white facial hair tooling around town. Everyone thinks they are so unique and badass but they literally all look the same. Its about time harley or indian, distanced themselves from this kind of aesthetic and you can see evidence of this change in their new bikes.
