I leave in an island and I have the 2006 model 1700cc , I am very satisfied cause I use it to pull boats and a lot of sand beaches here the car works perfect in every way.

There are locking diffs, and Limited Slip diffs available out there in Russia for this good old Niva! You can change the original open diffs as You want. Google: "VAL Racing" Russian Company in Togliatti.

Been off roading for over ten years and must say I'm impressed what these things can do with the lift and tyre size they have. Tough little vehicle.

Niva is a fantastic little car. It has its flaws, but it's super cheap and has multiple advantages off-road: It's small and light so it can go where most other offroad cars would get stuck; it's very easy to fix (if you never worked on your car, Niva is a great car to start); the parts are plentiful and literally dirt cheap; it has a full-time AWD with locking centre differential and low range transfer case so it's both easy to use and very practical; it can fit a good amount of cargo and bc it's a monocoque the roof is rigid so you can also make a very useful roof rack. It's a perfect car for going on offroad trips- My friends and I drove to Romania and it was awesome! The car wasn't too comfortable, but it was the last one to get stuck whenever we were going through rough terrain.

Niva stara ruska makinja. Prolazi sve terrne. Gazi i tamo di "nabildani suv auti" nemogu ni pomislit proc. Jedinu promjenu na nivinoj transmisiji bila bi ta da bi novi jeep bio awd plus oprema : sve sto đaku treba(abs ebd esp asr airbag i satelitska navigacija).
