Someone on reddit said they're waiting on a part from italy, the brake are bad so hopefully it'll be running next year!

Dont write Lakeside off as you do. It is still here, and while it seems to be dealing w/modern day challenges, the owners are doing what they can to keep this "gem" going, and not selling to a developer to put up a Cosco/Walmart.

I hear that dude! I love my beloved Lakeside.And the cyclone& wild chipmunk are 2 of my faves. They used to have an awesome fun house with a fat lady on top that moved back and forth and laughed. But it's been gone for literally decades I don't know why they closed it .It was one of the best fun houses I've ever been in

@@ssue4q ..two reasons Lakeside removed the fun house (from a outsider's perspective) is 1) lack of expensive maintenance. While Lakeside can provide a safely publicly fully functioning entertainment venue, it lacks a hard-core upkeep of structure cosmetic maintenance. The rides mechanically function safely, but the surrounding standing structures lack cosmetic upkeep. The Fun House may have had aged/wear to the wood structure issues that required a expensive repair investment not in the regular budget. 2) insurance issues. W/any business where the public is your customer, the cost, and associated risk, of requiring insurance is high. W/research possibly acquired, in todays "real world", Lakeside business think tank may have decided they did not want to risk someone getting hurt and suing. In the 1930's-50's people did not sue for drinking hot coffee (while they knew it was very hot to begin with (called a frivolous lawsuit). In 2022 people sue because they were served in a paper cup and not glass (kinda thing). Imagine sliding down a shute or having hanging bags bounce off your body. Someone out there is possibly gonna whine and sue (just heard Lakeside was hit w/a legal issue w/someone riding the Cyclone 2022). S-o-o Lakeside may have thought to tear down the Fun House AND a huge chunk of Americana history, to stay financially sound to continue for the next decade. After watching a PBS documentary on old amusement parks, which Lakeside was included, I decided to visit in 2017. A positive experience, it was also disheartening in that Coloradoans dont support this well known gem in 2022 knowing the risks and the importance of preservation of what Lakeside offers. ANYPLACE can offer a Six Flag Themed Park. They have their place in entertainment, but they are a majority cookie cutter amusement park. Give me the vintage State Fairs, Coney Island (of the 1950's), Palisades Park settings that dont have cartoon/super hero mascots. None of todays flip, throw, jolt or sound barrier breaking speed movement or bungee jumping "Vomitron" amusements interest me or my body. I enjoy thrill, but not...physical or emotional risk. Its great to hear there are others out there who agree w/my personal views. Ill be back to Lakeside Amusement Park. Its on my Bucket list.

@@501rivet I'm too arthritic to go now, but in my younger days, I loved Lakeside. Elitches was okay, but my preference was always Lakeside. So many great memories.

It is not usually abandoned

...you passed either in "off season"/winter months when its closed, or on a summer closed day, like a Monday/Tuesday. Go on a day Lakeside is open... and spend some time and receive fun and enjoyment in return.
