Main RWBY isn't the same without Monty Oum, and neither is Red vs Blue.

I feel it’s because RWBY fits better as a more light-hearted and less serious series, and the recent volumes are going down the darker more serious tone. Chibi is naturally on the lighter side, and without the need for a darker story it lets the characters have a little more time and fun. I personally think the characters work better in this setting than the main show.

​@@rsg5314 Well, Cinder's only ever properly lost a battle only once or twice throughout her entire life so far, and even those were special cases. At least her machinations throughout Volumes 1 to 3, culminating in the Fall of Beacon, is still to this day the greatest achievement of any RWBY Villain. Regardless, the more Cinder fails this early on, the more likely it becomes that she succeeds during later, more significant points in the story. It'll be fun to watch her make her move.
