Bondi Rescue follows the work of the elite professional Lifeguards who patrol Australia’s busiest beach. This is Australia’s real life Baywatch! Taking the viewers on their journey through mass rescues, drownings, resuscitations, shark sightings, and all number of the weird and wonderful experiences Bondi Beach dishes up.
In #BondiRescue the audience sees the action through the eyes of real characters and #lifeguards like Hoppo, Deano, Reidy, Jesse, Maxi, Whippet and Harries, as they catch thieves, perform CPR, make drug busts, break up fights, and even handle a navy bomb that washes ashore one afternoon. Every year throws up new and completely unexpected challenges, and how lifeguards adapt is what makes Bondi Rescue a show that’s about much more than swimmers being saved in the surf.

Australians take a normal name and shorten it to within 2 syllables or add an “o” to the end ( Tom= Tommo,)or pick out something particular about the person and go off of that ( childhood nickname, something embarrassing they did, etc. Or the call them something totally opposite to the norm( eg. tall person is called Tiny, red haired guy called Bluey). A very creative bunch!

Yeah, I remember once snorkeling over coral reefs and noticing the distance to the rocks below me changing by about 6-8 feet with each swell that went by and that scaring me enough to get the heck out of there. But that looked like he had to be 15-20 feet changes in height

Dude there was one like in the beginning of the show that was like that, and a board actually hit a lifeguard on the head!!! It was super dangerous and he had to go to the hospital!!!

Always think about Deano coming back up, always, from those big waves and rocks at North end of Bronte. 3rd clip. It's rough out there, esp then! And think "If only those poor swimmers who keep going under waves, in those rips, could just learn how to do that!"

Yes they still do them, they only film in the on season and not in the off season except some random days. Not sure about around covid but they still film it.
