I conducted my own Photographer’s challenge to find the best photo printing company. I tested the quality of the prints. I compared the cost, shipping, the packaging and the time it took to arrive. How To Print Professional Photos Yourself At Home
Printed photos are one of the best gifts you can give to your clients or family member. I went and found 7 different companies the printed pictures online for the challenge. The companies are as follows, Walmart, Shutterfly, Nations Photo Lab, Whitewall, Printerpix, Mpix and Picprolab.
The cost of the printed photos ranged from $2 up to $14 and the time it took for the pictures to arrive at my house ranged from 3 days to 14 days.
I ended up liking one of the companies so much that I bought multiple photo albums from them. Enjoy the contest and if you have any question feel free to ask.

Before you even said which one everyone liked the most I had already picked the one from Whitewall. Even looking at it on KZfaq I could see that this particular print was the best. It just had a nice tonal range. Great video and I especially like that you showed how the pictures were packaged when shipped.

Thank you for putting this together. Nice to get a comparison from different services.. I’ve also heard that Amazon prints is really good but not use them and I don’t know how many options they have.

I sell my prints online and have been using Nations Photo Lab for about a year. 3 of my orders have been bent, the most recent one today. 2 11x14's in a flimsy piece of folded cardboard. The prints were in a regular paper envelope. And the prints were not sandwiched in any extra cardboard either! I don't understand why these labs don't realize that the outer packaging is what is going to get the blunt of the abuse so that means the packaging inside needs to be EXTRA protected!

Thanks for the comparison. One question. Did you color correct, brightness , contrast yourself. Or did you have the print shops do there own correction ?

They do offer color correction but I did myself. I have had them do it before and they do a good job but on this particular project I just wanted to do it myself because I was printing so many pictures. Thanks for watching if you have any further questions feel free to ask.

The all do landscape or portrait. The croping Depends on the quality of the picture. Nations photo lab is the company I like the most. But, if you want the best of the best. Then use whitewall

@@oxmanagain I've already been using Mpix for quality enlargements. For general 4x6 prints, I've found Snapfish to be quite good (much to my own surprise). And Shutterfly has done a better-than-expected job on photo calendars for me.

Where in the video do you rank or compare the quality of all 7 photo companies? Can you tell me what minute mark? You made the very valid point at the beginning of the video that the most important thing is the quality of the end print, but other than dating the $14 Whites print was best and the Walmart not so good, you never talked about it. I spent 17 minutes and didn't get what I thought you were going to tell...

Did you let all print shops to print in a certain color profile? Adobe RGB or according to your camera?

I uploaded everything and had them print from the color of my camera. Then, if they wanted to do a color correction I allowed him to do it.

You're right they have a lot of options. I believe I chose their least expensive one and it was still the best print I have ever seen.

Since that video I've used Nations photo lab and Zno. Both companies are great and I have no problem recommending both of them

Yes, there is. From pretty much all of them. It just depends on the quality of the picture.

No once the pictures are printed they can't be removed. This is like a magazine. The pages are the pictures

Very informative, but would be nice to have a short, concise summary at the beginning of your video of your findings, and a chart. Their I can listen to the rest if I have time. Or at least a timestamp of certain things along the way in the notes

@@oxmanagain An outdoor wedding. I’m waiting to hear back from them find out how it happened and if they will remake them. I checked the photos after I edited them and before I sent them on 3 of my monitors, two of which are calibrated, as well as 2 iOS devices, they all looked good. The pictures I got from mpix were dull, colorless, overexposed, and under saturated. Like someone turned up the exposure, turned down the saturation, changed the hue of the blues and greens, and stripped out all the blacks and over exposed them all. Idk what happened but the test prints I did at Walmart looked much better. For now I’m waiting on a reply from them (I emailed them last Tuesday). Also looking into different companies.
