I knew you would like this kit! The kit handles everybit of my overland gear and then some! I recently towed my travel trailer back home after a two year stay in Portland and it handled that flawlessly. Actually so good that I did not need my weight distribution hitch. Higher speeds washboard roads are no problem. Think the only difference I went with was with the foam cell shocks instead of the nitro filled shocks.

Haha you were 100% right on that one. It is heads and shoulders above the last kit. It works as one unit. And I might have a surprise for you on my kit. Wait and see.

I hope their new kit is a massive improvement over the foam core units. I had never experienced shock fade so fast as I had with those on my GX.
@AdventureBuilt
@AdventureBuilt 4 жыл бұрын
Really. That is crazy. The Foam Cell Shocks were supposedly created to decrease shock fade from overheating and frothing. Have you called Ironman. They have a crazy long warranty!
@RevRodge
@RevRodge 4 жыл бұрын
Adventure Built unfortunately had to get rid of the truck. I think the reason I was seeing fade was due to the decreased amount of oil (with the foam taking up space) in the shocks leading to a lessened ability to disperse heat. That would make them a little ineffective on washboard roads within 5-10 minutes. That said I really do expect yours to perform better with, what seems like, a few great improvements. Thanks for posting your videos, your cab mount relocate one was really great too!

From my understanding, the body seam with the UCA is built there in conjunction with the orientation of the bolt in case of a failure or loosening, keeping the bolt in place and not letting it slide out

Great news. They nailed that one. Sucks for the rest of us that actually want to remove that bolt on purpose.

On my 5th gen 4Runner I was able to get a torque wrench on the UCA bolt to get it to spec. Another tool you may want to consider for those types of spaces is a crows foot wrench.

We swapped out the UCA on Trevor’s 4Runner and 1 it was way easier and 2 we still weren’t able to get the torque wrench on it. I’m have to look into a more low profile torque wrench. It’s becoming a reoccurring issue. Thanks for the info.

I have a question for you and I would like to know if you can tell me if it is true that the ironman nitro gas shock absorbers go well with the standard original trim and can they be adapted with the +5? i have a suzuki jimny 4x4 with m13a engine 1.3 lt factory standard gasoline yesterday afternoon i picked up the new ironman nitro gas shock absorbers and the 4x4 parts dealer in florence told me that these ironman nitro gas shock absorbers are good for off road 4x4 vehicles with a standard factory shock and springs tuning kit or in a second I could put the springs higher and it becomes a high +5 suspension is this true? Greetings from Florence Italy!
@AdventureBuilt

Well greetings friend. Basically if I am understanding your question you want to know if +5 will give you a factory ride. Unfortunately no. You will have a very hoppy ride unless your truck is really heavy with steep bumpers and lots of gear. Hope this helps.

I doubt removing the fenders would help since it would take forever to get them off and back on and aligned. The cab mount relocate moves the body mount back so it doesn’t interfere with tire travel with bigger tires.

2 questions 1. Do the springs come in any other color than 1980's neon green? and 2. Was there any reason that you didnt install grease zerks in the upper control arms? there were obvious bosses to drill and they would extend the life of the bushings.
@AdventureBuilt
@AdventureBuilt 4 жыл бұрын
Richard Sveum I have only seen the springs in neon green which I think looks cool compared to black and grey of stock. Plus the neon green is Ironman’s color. I honestly didn’t even think of installing grease zerks but don’t know if I would. Ironman must think they will last a long time. I guess time will tell.

Thanks for your great vids! I currently drive a 2017 GX460 and am in the market for a cost-effective yet capable lift that can handle 33s. I've heard very mixed things about the OME + Bilstein 5100 combo - mostly that it's quite stiff on-road (so that turned me off immediately). When I learned about Ironman suspension, I became instantly hooked by their philosophy and build quality. I am driving on-road 85% of the time, and then will off-road casual trails in the desert or mountains maybe 3 times per year as weekend camp trips (the other 15%). Given that type of use-case, I have a few questions. 1) How does the Nitro compare to stock on-road vs the Foam Cell to stock on-road? 2) Will the 6,600 lb heft of the GX be any issue with the Nitro (assuming it'd be no problem for the Fuel Cell)? 3) Given the above, am I safe to choose the Nitro?? Obviously, the Foam Cell is next level/ideal/better etc., but l'm looking to stick to a budget :)

Hey man. Thanks for checking out the video. My experience so far with a side by side comparison of the Nitro and Foam Cell Pro aren’t the greatest. I have the Nitro shocks on my Tacoma and Trevor has Foam Cell Pro on his 4Runner. I have spent lots of time in both vehicles but they are different enough vehicles to not have a true side by side comparison. I think on the street the Nitro and Foam Cell Pro and almost the same. I don’t think the Foam Cell Shocks cycle enough to really show what they can do. Now in the desert on the average trail again the Nitro and Foam Cell are neck and neck. Where I have seen the difference is when Trevor and I are blasting down washboard and rutted our forest service roads maybe going a little faster than we should. That is were the Foam Cell Pro really show up the Nitros. I think the Foam Cell Pros stay more responsive for longer. I’m actually about to switch the Tacoma over to the Foam Cell Pro and I’m gonna try to make a comparison video. It might be a couple months away but it should happen. I hope this helps.
