I’m gonna share a secret with you all today…the recipe for perfect, crisp pendulum pour paint!
Knowing how to mix your paint for a specific technique is one of the biggest factors in acrylic pouring success. This mixture gives thin streams of paint that hold together and flow really nicely out of a small opening!
The ratio for the recipe is:
1 part acrylic paint (tube paint or craft paint)
2 parts untinted house paint (neutral or deep base, gloss or semigloss)
2 parts floetrol
Water to thin as needed (around 1 part?)
This ratio can be applied to any amount. For example, 0.5 oz paint, 1 oz untinted house paint, 1 oz floetrol, and about 0.5 oz water.
The paints I mixed in this video were all metallic paints, which unfortunately don’t flow quite as well as standard acrylics. For metallics it might be better to add 3 parts of house paint to help it really hold together, while you then thin it with water as necessary.
