I really like Capture One, but it doesn't do composites.

Happy new year :) Enjoyed the video! I want to start editing photos like professional portraits and family pictures. I’m pretty good at picking up on intermediate editing software‘s. What will you recommend for a starter editing software? Thank you!

Hi, I would suggest either Affinity Photo, if you want to edit on a tablet, or Lightroom. Affinity Photo also has a desktop based suite, which offer features that nearly match Adobe's Photoshop in 1:1 detail. So that could also be an option if you prefer editing on the computer. But either of these software offer enough of the core features needed to edit and retouch these styles of images.

Hey I love your videos they are very helpful and appreciate what you’re doing ….I want to ask if there is any app I can use for my studio to do instant edit for group of photo at the same time just to give it more deep or to give it more professional effect Or maybe doing the live action on the photo on my pc or tablet while I’m making the photo shoot instead of working on each photo by itself …..is there any app can do this action? Thanks

Hi ahmed, the best way to do this is using presets for Adobe Lightroom. You can download the software for free on iOS and Android. In there, you can setup the app to recall presets of common settings you make when editing photos. I think this would be your best bet.

Yes Photo Mechanic is excellent. It's a great culling software that's largely similar to Adobe Lightroom in the core features, without the monthly membership. I used to use it when Adobe first went to subscription based back in around 2017-2018. Great software.

Quite a selection of what, I assume, are costly programs... But I think I’ll stick with GIMP which will arguably stand toe to toe with the best of the best - and I love the price.

Yes. Many of these programs are monthly subscriptions, which add up. But, several are one-time purchases under $75 USD. So it's not all doom and gloom. But, definitely, GIMP is great. It's a powerful powerful tool, as is Darktable, which is also free. Great programs, definitely recommend them as alternatives.

Hi Ivonne, I would suggest looking into Movavi's Photo Editor. Movavi also has a KZfaq channel, and those guys upload several videos weekly, many of which cover editing photos in great depths as well as using their editors. They have a free trial on their site for Picverse. Give it a shot. It's a good starting point before diving into more hardcore programs like Photoshop, Capture One and Affinity Photo.

Sorry, this vid is about S/W for Mac OR Windows -- a number of products you review are not for both! I use both but only want editing on Macs. Given you did it the way you did, please start each product review by stating its OS requirements. Finally, you slighted what I feel is the second best product of all and that is GIMP which I rate as a close second to Adobe Photoshop and it's open source free.

GIMP is mentioned on our best free editors post. This one's focused mostly on paid for software.

There's a lot less challenge in taking good photographs these days, it's almost all done for you. It kind of takes away from the joy of being a skilled photographer.

Yes. Which is why I shoot JPEG and focus on trying to accomplish everything in-camera, so I can really test my skills.
