i just ordered an R, it'll be my first mirrorless AND full frame camera, i'm not gonna lie i was a little overwhelmed with the learning curve in terms of the settings and whatnot, but this kinda made me feel better about everything. it was all really helpful, thanks!

No control ring? A good spot for ISO is on the < > Bar. For multiple exposures...there is an option for 2. I like one at middle and one tick brighter. Many times for low light shots or shots where your shooting a dark object you want to see a touch more detail in the shadows. Now if you are shooting bright objects like a white dress you may want to set the second exposure one tick darker. Note with multiple exposures you will want to change it to high speed shooting - press and hold only takes two shots and stops.

Thank you will definitely be making adjustments to assign things separately. Question in coming from a Canon 6d Mark ii and I use single point on my Mark after image is taken and you playback image it had the focal point on the image so you can see where it grabbed does the Canon R not have that feature to show point on Playback image? Hi Kelly! Yes, the EOS R has this feature! If you go to the menu go to the blue menu (which is the playback icon at the top) and then the 3rd page will have a setting called "AF point disp." which activates that feature! Hope this helps!

In one video about the Canon EOS R, I saw that there are unsightly stripes on the photos during the silent shutter mode. I don't know if it's a problem of this type as such or if it was a mistake in one piece.

I haven’t had any issues like that while using silent shutter mode and I’ve used it a handful of times at events.

Hi Hugo, I just picked up the Atomos Ninja V and am not able to view the level on the external monitor. Unfortunately, due to some research this appears to be an oversight on Canon! I wasn't able to find anyone online who had successfully solved that issue. Sorry!

I am fairly sure that if you do not shoot jpeg, there's no point in setting Picture Style, since that tells the camera how to render jpeg.

I kinda disagree. The raw photo will usually look a bit flatter until you're done with your edit, so do the same with the profile, set it to something flatter, with less contrast, if the super nice sunset doesn't look as orangy as you want it to be, change your settings and take the shot again. Because the picture style renders the raw to be a previewable JPG on the screen, meaning that the image you see is not entirely as nice on the pc pre-post, and you may miss details that you cannot bump up anymore, or it will look to artificial later on :) Source: tried it myself a while ago, and it helps judging the shot you just took :)

I believe you have your metering mode set to either Partial Metering or Spot Metering. If set to evaluative it will go away. This option is on the left hand side of the main screen under Drive Mode.

You are be able to change aspect ratio in the settings! You can choose from 4:5, 16:9, 1.6x (crop sensor), or FULL, which is full sensor.

I just found out that this happens when you have an EF-S lens on your camera..so, this explains it

@@CodyMajeres For photo in my case anyway.. I didn't check the video yet but I guess for both. I also learned that using an EF-s lens on a EOS R you lose quite an amount of pixels .. (because of the 1.6 crop) so I'm thinking of buying a RF lens now... So sad for al my other EF lenses
