Sankat Mochan Mandir
Sankat Mochan Mandir is one of the sacred temples of the Hindu god Hanuman in the city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Sankat Mochan Mandir is an ancient temple and abode of deity Lord Hanuman Ji. The temple was established by Great Saint Poet Goswami Tulsidas Ji in the beginning of 16th century. The area surrounding the sanctum sanatorium is surrounded by green forest originally preserved since the establishment of temple.
The name “Sankat Mochan”, a popular appellation for Hanuman, means “The Reliever of Troubles” or “The Liberation from Troubles”. These are believed to be the rewards of receiving the darshan of Hanuman Ji.
TRIDEV TEMPLE
Tridev Mandir is located on Sankat Mochan Road near Tulsi Manas Temple in Varanasi. The temple is dedicated to Maa Sati and Khatu Shyam. The Goddess worshipped here is a reincarnation of Uttara of Mahabharata. The temple is associated with deities worshipped in Rajasthan.
Legend has it that Uttara was reborn in a Vaishya family in Rajasthan during Kali Yuga. She avenged the death of her husband and then attained Sati.
The main murtis worshiped in the temple are that of Maa Sati and Khatu Shyam. Only the head of Khatu Shyam is worshipped in the shrine.
DURGA MATA TEMPLE (LAAL MANDIR)
ight adjacent to Durga Kund, there is located another sacred shrine in Varanasi - Durga Temple. Erected in the 18th century, the temple is sacred to Goddess Durga. It was a Rani Bhabani of Natore - a Bengali Queen who built this Hindu temple in Varanasi. An interesting fact is associated with the idol of the presiding deity of the temple. It says that the image of Goddess Durga is not built by anyone; it is believed to have emerged on its own. Such is the significance of this renowned tourist site in Varanasi that a visit to this temple is said to protect one from all the problems. Due to the presence of oodles of monkeys at the shrine site, Durga Temple is also entitled as Monkey Temple.

Durga temple also has temples of Baba Bhairavnath, Lakshmi ji, Saraswati ji, Hanuman ji and Mata Kali.
There is a Havan Kund inside the temple, where daily Havan takes place.
Durga temple specially built on North Indian pattern called Nagra.
TULSI DAS STHAN
It is five pm and I find myself back on the banks of the river Ganga in Varanasi, as it flows so quietly that it almost appears still. I am on my way to locate a 400 year old house where the Ramcharitmanas was written in Tulsi Ghat, one among the famed ghats of Varanasi. Tulsi Ghat is slightly higher than the rest and a steep staircase, three Shiva shrines, an old peepal tree and a white colour tree with a large balcony mark Tulsi Ghat.
A fairly aggressive greets me with aggression as it jumps from the peepal tree. I become defensive and allows me to pass. In Tulsi Ghat, I spot the guesthouse of the Sankatmochan Foundation and the laboratory of the Swachh Ganga Foundation, which spearheads the cleanup of the river Ganga in Varanasi. For a house that is 400 years old,This temple has been called 'Monkey Temple' because many monkeys pose danger and also reside in the temple.
"The scholars of Varanasi were unhappy with Tulsidas and accused him of defiling the sanctity of the Valmiki Ramayana by translating it to Awadhi. They challenged the worth of the Ramcharitmanas and placed it in the sanctum sanctorum of the Vishwanath Temple with a pile of the Vedas and other holy scriptures. In the morning, when they opened the door, the Ramcharitmanas was placed on top of the pile with the words "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" (Truth Godliness and Beauty) inscribed on it," he says. I realise that in India, there is no distinction betwen belief and devotion, fables and stories and people believe what they want to.
