I’ve used several pole saws and my current favourite is from Lee Valley with a double hook (one at the top and another on the bottom) of the blade. It’s based on the Japanese saw tooth design and cuts probably twice as fast as you showed. The round pole however does not close and hold well. I would love to combine the Fiskars oval pole with the Lee Valley blade.

Stefan, I’m going to have to check that out. Lee Vally offers some great quality tools. I like the idea of a double hook, Japanese saws cut really well. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT

I remember back in the day my Dad and I used a pole saw like that all the time. Then I upgraded to a Husqvarna power pole saw and now that's all I use. If I need to get up in a tree farther I just have my nephew come over with his self propelled lift and we cut hahaha. Stay safe my friend

I’ve had a lot of experience using pole saws for pruning and dead limb removal. The Fiskars innovations are definitely helpful improvements. A noggin protector and glasses to keep sawdust out of your eyes are essential too. I’ve been dinged and saw dusted many times. Thankfully with no long term effects… er what was I talking about🤔 oh bother it’ll come to me eventually.

You’ve hit the mark! Short, sweet and very informative. That’s hard to do but well worth the effort. I’ve got a 20+ year old fiscar pole saw on its second blade that I would love to trade in on one of those. I learned how to use the flex of the pole to keep the blade in the kerf and have been happy with it for years, but that new design is the cats pajamas. Trade ya! Way to go Tone! Reno

You're 100% right about the flex, lol I have had 4 poles together and stood on a 14 ft orchard ladder at a tree job, the climber never showed up. 🤣 talk about a workout. . Longest 12 minutes of my life! Fiskars does make a good home owner setup. I just wish the fiberglass holes in the extension part were reinforced... no problems as of yet, but maybe it doesn't need them. I think I have the 16 ft model. It was 64 or 84 dollars at homedepot, very good cutting teeth and pruning blade

It definitely sounds like you had a workout!!! Hey Tony another very informative video! After watching this 2 months ago I was at my local Costco Warehouse and they had the Fiskars 16' pole pruner for sale. I bought one & realized how long it actually is when it barely fit into my car! And that was without the blade attached!! LOL I am curious, my saw is made in China is yours made in Germany or Sweden?? My saw also hooks on different than yours did, it still has a wingnut but no tab holding it in place until the wingnut gets tightened. I am also a little disappointed with the rope just hanging down from the head , I would've thought they would have a loop on each section to thread the rope thru! What are your thoughts?? I also need to make some kind of a scabbard for the blade before I accidentally cut holes in everything that the blade comes in contact with!! LOL
@TonysCoolTools
@TonysCoolTools Жыл бұрын
Steve, to my knowledge all the Fiskars Pole saws are made in China. The Ax’s are the main products made in Finland. My pole saw is about 4 or 5 years old so Fiskars may have made some changes to the blade design. The rope is a tough issue, I’m not aware of any other company that has a better design other than just hanging from the head of the saw. After you’ve had a chance to use it drop me a comment on your thoughts. Appreciate you watching and commenting 👍TCT

Karl when I retired in 2019 only the 16’ saw came with the hook nose Woodzig blade. It would not fit the 12’ or 14’ but possibly you could modify it with some grinding and filing. I’m going to guess the redesign from round handle to oval was about 2016. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT

Hi Tony. Are the saw blades interchangeable between the various Fiskars pole saws? That would be so nice! And, if not, is there a tooth configuration and size difference between the various models! I recently bought the X27, X25 and X15 axes. Very good axes. Tired of replacing wooden handles on my conventional axes, that is if I can find them and cost prohibitive to import here in Canada.from the States. Thanks for your videos. Subscribed. Norm, Chris is still the “best former best friend I’ve ever had” 😂 The 16’ pole saw uses a 15” Woodzig saw blade specifically made for that saw and was not interchangeable with any other pole saw (that was 4 years ago). Been looking at this mysterious jumble of a tool [that looks so complicated] for over 3 weeks, but could help with a "forever young" Japanese Maple that grows faster each year. Had no idea how you operated such a tool that seemed "helpful" for my situation. This is exactly the kind of video that helps those of us who have a desire to do something, but we're in need of educating. Your video removed the mystery of "how on earth you use such a contraption". I've been using a ladder and a branch looper that's maybe ..3' long. The right tool for the right job is always the best choice. Been looking at these Fiskars at Costco but could not decipher how they worked. Now I know..feed a person a fish 1 day & they eat one day..teach a person to fish...all the questions about this device have been answered. Thank you for removing the mystery on how these Fiskar Trimmers work.
